INTRODUCTION
INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS ARE SUPPLEMENTARY MATERIALS, WHICH
HELP THE TEACHER TO MAKE HIS OR HER PRESENTATION CONCRETE,
EFFECTIVE, INTERESTING MEANINGFUL AND INSPIRING

PRIMARY AIM:
THE PRIMARY AIM OF TEACHING MATERIALS IS TO PROVIDE THE TEACHERS THE

LAPTOP – a computer that is portable and suitable for travelling. A clamshell form factor with flat
panel screen of 11 by 17 inches or 280 mm by 330 mm.
Alan Curtis Kay (born May 17, 1940)[1] is an American computer scientist best known for his
pioneering work on object-oriented programming and windowing graphical user interface (GUI)
design. At Xerox PARC he led the design and development of the first modern
windowed computer desktop interface
History:
1971-As the personal computer became feasible in 197O, the idea of portable computer soon
followed “ A personal portable information manipulator” was imagined by Alan Kay at XEROX
PARC in 1968.

1972 -developed and described as a DYNABOOK “ A personal computer for children of all ages”
1980 – EPSON HX -20 was invented on July 1980 by Yukio Yokozawa who worked at SUWA
SEIKOSHA a branch of SEIKO COMPANY (EPSON)
ADVANTAGES
PORTABILTY – physical portability allows a laptop to be used in many places.
PRODUCTIVITY -Using laptop in places where PC cannot be used can help employees and
student to increase their productivity of work or school task.
UP TO DATE INFORMATION -Using a single laptop prevents fragmentation of files across
multiple PC’s as the file exist on the single location and are always up to date
CONNECTIVITY- a key advantage of laptops is that they almost always have integrated
connectivity such as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth and sometimes connection to cellular network.
SIZE- Laptop are smaller than desktop PCs. This is beneficial when space is at premium.
LOW POWER CONSUMPTION-Laptops are several times more power efficient than desktop.A
typical laptop uses 10 -100 W compared to 200 -800 W for desktops.

DISADVANTAGES
UPGRADEABILITY- The upgradeability of laptop is very limited compared to thoroughly
standardized desktop due to technical and economic reason. In general, hard drives and memory
can be upgraded easily.
DURABILTY-Laptop are less durable than desktop and PC’s however the durability of the laptop
depends on the end user if proper maintenance is done then the laptop can work longer.
BATTERY LIFE- Battery life is limited because the capacity drops with time, eventually
warranting replacement after as little as 2-3 years.

INFOGRAPHICS – is a visual representation or an image such as diagram chart or picture

representing information or data. It is eye- catching and makes use of a clear layout, attractive
color and hues and caricatures that provides an cohesive presentation of thi information.
There are many ways for which infographics can be used:
1. To present data
2. To simplify a complex concept
3. To explain how something function
4. To compare
5. To present interesting facts
 Statical infographic is an infographic that includes pie charts, bar graphs, and any other
visual representations of data
 Informational infographics
 An infographic (information graphic) is a representation of information in a graphic format
designed to make the data easily understandable briefly.

 Timeline Infographics is a type of graphic that visually displays information in the context
of time progression.
 Hierarchy Infographics that present an order or ranking, usually in a vertical or horizontal
orientation
 Geographical infographics
IPAD/ TABLET AND THE ONLINE BULLETIN BOARD
IPAD OR TABLET is a common name for a variety of devices which almost always function using
a touch screen though different manufacturers provide different specs. A tablet is a wireless,
portable personal computer with a touchscreen interface. The tablet form factor is typically
smaller than a notebook computer, but larger than a smartphone. The idea of tablet
computing is generally credited to Alan Kay of Xerox, who sketched out the idea in 1971.
TABLET VS.LAPTOP
A laptop is a portable form of computer device with all of its input, output, and other constituent
units inbuilt in one single package.
A tablet is a light-weighted, portable, touch screen computer device that usually operates on a
mobile OS.
It is comparatively bigger and thicker than a typical tablet

ONLINE BULLETIN BOARD

Also known as a pinboard or noticeboard, a bulletin board is a surface intended for displaying
notices that give information about something. They enable users to send and receive messages of
common interest. They are often made of cork which facilitates easier addition and removal of
messages.

ADVANTAGES OF ONLINE BULLETIN BOARD

1. a teacher might use an online bulletin board to introduce a topic and add online links, videos,
and photos for the students to click on to learn more about a topic. Depending on how it is set up
the students can add new ideas to the teacher’s board.
2. A teacher or student can introduce an idea/topic and brainstorm together by adding notes to the
board. Depending on the application the notes can include videos, text, photos and online links.
3.Using any of the tools below students can consolidate information in an organized manner. They
can also be a great study tool. When users create a multimedia board, they are effectively
summarizing content, taking notes, and studying all at the same time
