THE STRUCTURE’S
FOUNDATIONS CONSISTED OF
LARGE CONGLOMERATE
STONES, RESTING ON A LAYER
OF ROCKS HELD TOGETHER BY
MORTAR. THESE ARE
PRESERVED IN PLACE ONLY AT
THE SOUTHWEST CORNER OF
THE BUILDING. THE TEMPLE IS
ORIENTED TO THE WEST, AND
LIES TO THE EAST OF THE
THOLOS AND IN CLOSE
PROXIMITY TO IT. IT IS
THOUGHT THAT IT WAS PLACED
IN THIS WAY DUE TO ITS
PROPINQUITY TO THE
AUDITORIUM, AND ALSO TO
ENHANCE ITS VISIBILITY FROM
THE N SECTION OF THE AGORA.
