It's very simple!
Conditional sentences - условные
предложения.
Например: Если бы ты была богатой,
какая машина была бы у тебя?

Есть условие и последствие.

There are 6 of them.
Zero conditional sentences
First conditional sentences
Second conditional sentences

The structure of
conditional sentences
We have a condition which starts with If, when,
unless (= if not) etc. and a consequence
(последствие)

If you give me your book I won't come to the party


(condition), I will be incredibly (consequence) unless you pick me
happy (consequence)! up (condition).
Zero conditional sentences
We use this type to talk about facts and things that happen all the
time.

If/ when+ present simple, present If you hit water, it boils (fact)
simple You become fat if you eat
greasy food (fact)
(If I do, I do ) They don't call me if I do not
text them (happens all the time)

First conditional sentences
We use this type to talk about future actions. Something that
can/may/will/likely to happen.

If/ when+ present simple, future If you invite me to your party, I will bring
simple (will/may/might/can/to be a cake.
going to+ verb) I am going to hit him if he says
something bad to you!
Will you be mad at me if I do not come?
(If I do, I will do )
YOU CAN'T USE FUTURE TENSES/FORMS WITH IF!
No: If you will call me, I will ...
Yes: If you call me, I will ...
Second conditional sentences
We use this type to talk about unreal situations in the present. It
may be wishes, changes

If/ when+ past simple, would If I saw a unicorn, I would make a wish.
(could) + verb If I were (!) a king, I would have 5
wives!
If she were (!) here, we would throw a
(If I did, I would do )
party.

Third conditional sentences
We use this type to talk about unreal situations in the past. Mostly
we show regrets with this type.

If/ when+ past perfect, would If I had not met you, I would have
(could) + have + V3/V-ed married Jim.
If I had got the job, I would have
earned a lot of money!
(If I had (not) done, I would (not)
If I hadn't eaten that Chinese food, I
have done )
wouldn't have had problems with my
stomach!
