Maths

The document discusses calculus and its two main branches - differential calculus and integral calculus. Differential calculus deals with rates of change and slopes of curves, while integral calculus deals with accumulation of quantities and calculating the areas under and between curves. It provides brief definitions of both differential and integral calculus, noting that differential calculus studies rates of change and is related to integral calculus through the fundamental theorem of calculus.

PROJECT- 1

 To minimise the cost of the food, meeting the dietary requirements

of the staple food of the adolescent students of your school.

 Task to be done

(i) Make a survey of atleast 100 students to find which staple food
they consume on daily basis.

(ii) Select two food items constituting one cereal and one pulse.

(iii) Find from dietician the minimum requirement of protein and

carbohydrate for an adolescent and also find the content of
protein and carbohydrate in 1 kg. of selected cereal and pulse
respectively.

(iv) Find the minimum cost of the selected cereal and pulse from
market.

(v) Formulate the corresponding Linear Programming problem.

(vi) Solve the problem graphically.

Answer:

• Let the twofood items are Ahar Dal and Wheat

• Protien in Arahar Dal per kg = 220gm

• Protein in Wheat per kg = 100gm

• Carbohydrate in Arahar Dal = 630gm

• Carbohydrates in Wheat per kg = 760gm

Let daily requirement of protein be 60gm and wheat be 1500gm

The rate of Arahar Dal per kg be Rs.100 and wheat be Rs.20/kg

So,

We need to Minimise
100x +20y

Now constraints are

220x +100y ≥ 60

630x + 760y ≥1500

And x,y ≥0
PROJECT-2
What is Meant by Calculus?
Calculus is the branch of mathematics, which deals in the study rate of
change and its application in solving the equations.
Differential calculus and integral calculus are the two major branches of
calculus.
Differential Calculus deals with the rates of change and slopes of curves.
Integral Calculus deals mainly with the accumulation of quantities and

the areas under and between curves .

DIFFERENCIAL CALCULAS:
 In mathematics, differential calculus is a subfield of calculus that
studies the rates at which quantities change. It is one of the two
traditional divisions of calculus, the other being integral calculus—
the study of the area beneath a curve.
INTEGRAL CALCULAS:
 Integral Calculus is the branch of calculus where we study
integrals and their properties. Integration is an essential concept
which is the inverse process of differentiation. Both the integral
and differential calculus are related to each other by the
fundamental theorem of calculus.
