KEYER
A keyer is a device for signaling by
hand, by way of pressing one or more
switches. Modern keyers typically have
a large number of switches but not as
many as a full-size keyboard; typically
between four and fifty.
6
KEYBOARD
A computer keyboard is a peripheral
input device modeled after the
typewriter keyboard which uses an
arrangement of buttons or keys to act as
mechanical levers or electronic switches.
7
LIGHTED PROGRAM FUNCTION
KEYBOARD (LPFK)
input device manufactured by
IBM that presents an array of
buttons associated with lights.
Each button is associated to a
function in supporting software,
and according to the availability
of that function in current
context of the application, the
light is switched on or off, giving
the user a graphical feedback
on the set of available functions.
Usually the button to function
mapping is customizable.

COMPOSIT DEVICES
•Wii Remote
•Wii Remote with attached strap

Remotes are built around a rubber
membrane keypad. Each key is part of a
single, large piece of rubbery plastic.
Under each one, there's a thin strip of
conducting paint or plastic.

•Gamepad (or joypad)
•Paddle (game controller)
•Jog dial/shuttle (or knob)
16
GAMEPAD
A gamepad is a type of video game
controller held in two hands, where
the fingers (especially thumbs) are
used to provide input. They are
typically the main input
device for video game consoles.
17
PADDLE
A paddle is a game controller with a
round wheel and one or more fire
buttons, where the wheel is typically
used to control movement of the
player object along one axis of the
video screen. A paddle controller
rotates through a fixed arc (usually
about 330 degrees); it has a stop at
each end.
18
JOG DIAL
Originally released in 1998 as part of a
special edition package with R4: Ridge
Racer Type 4, it was designed to
combine the function of a steering
wheel controller, while maintaining the
size of a standard PlayStation
controller. This is accomplished by a
dial approximately 3 inches in diameter
in the center of the controller (almost in
the same location as
the DualShock analog sticks).

SUMMARY
These devices make the world
of computer systems. Without
them, all the innovation and
technology that we enjoy is not
possible. This is why they
become an important part of
general knowledge.
