This is a report for the Sales Director about the sales of cotton clothing as a
percentage over the last 12 months.

There was an increase in sales of organic cotton baby, children’s and women clothes
from 40% to 60%. Sales of organic teenage and men’s clothes were lower and
remained the same at 50% each over the same period.

One year ago, sales of all non-organic cotton clothing were higher than organic at
70% but now organic clothing sales have increased slightly by 20% to 50% of overall
sales. It is predicted that by 2023, sales of organic cotton clothing will have increased
dramatically and reached 80% of all sales.

Overall, there has been a significant increase in customer interest in purchasing


organic cotton clothing and this trend is expected to continue in the future.

Purpose of an INFORMAL REPORT
The primary purpose of informal reporting is to convey
information that is helpful in decision-making.

Presents information in an organized format for a specific


audience and purpose.

Informal reports are used internally in an organization.

Do not include any personal comment or opinion.


Planning
It is important that before writing that you plan your report.
Consider:

1. How many paragraphs will you need to write?


2. What information will you include in each paragraph?
3. What language will you use to describe the
information in the charts? What tense will you
use; past, present, future?
