If you work on a high security level and you do not have access to the Internet for your local network
or workstation, you can use the local license server.
Depending on license model chosen (bought) local license server license can be:
▪ FLEXIBLE – license is taken every time the computer starts and it stays through the
whole session. It can be manually released, and it is available for another computer
without delay. Borrowing is not possible.
▪ FLEXIBLE DELAYED license is taken every time the computer starts and it stays through
the whole session. It can be manually released, but is not available for 1 hour after the
transfer. If the same machine that transferred requests the license again, it is available
directly. Borrowing is not possible.
▪ FLOATING - in this mode a license is requested automatically on start of SEE Electrical
and released when closing the software. Borrowing of a license is possible for maximum
of 99 days. A borrowed license automatically returns to the server after its period is
finished after 99 days. Borrowing means that if your company has several licenses the
users can check out the license from the server. The license is then available on the
user's computer even if it is not connected to the company network. After the determined
period, the license is blocked on the user's computer if the computer is not connected to
the company's network again.
Note:
The license available via the local license server is a softlock type license.
▪ SEE Electrical software must be installed under the Administrator's account. If the user
must log on as main user on the computer, it is enough to fill in, and close the License
wizard.
▪ The User profile must receive Administrator rights during the installation. The
Administrator rights can be removed after installing and licensing.
A.2. CONFIGURING THE LOCAL FIREWALL
The communication between the Local License Server and SEE Electrical is done via a port you
must define while setting up the Local License Server. Make sure that your firewall allows the use of
this port.
After SEE Electrical is installed on a client, an installer for local license server is available in folder
“Tools\Local Licence Server” in SEE Electrical program folder. By default, SEE Electrical is installed
in folder C:\Program Files (x86)\IGE+XAO\SEE Electrical V8R2\).
▪ Copy this Setup.MSI file to the server (computer) on which you want to install the local
license server.
▪ Make sure you have administrator rights.
▪ Execute the installation.
By default, the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\IGE+XAO\SEE Local License Server is
suggested. If you want to install in a different folder, please change the folder now. Due to
registration issues it is not possible to move the files for local license server to a
different folder after installation.
After the installation process finish, open the installation folder to start the Server Manager:
Within this window, you can see the Server IP Address and the Server ID.
Send them to your SEE Electrical dealer. This file is needed in order to generate the licensing
file about your server.
The Server IP Address is needed when it comes to setup the license management at the
users' computers. If more than one IP address is shown, use the one from the network
adapter that is stable. Normally this is the network adapter connected by the network cable. A
network adapter connecting to Wi-Fi, for example, may change his address quite often.
After the dealer has sent you the license file (<Name.LCS), copy this file to your server into
the folder which contains the files for the local license server. You must have full rights in this
folder (add/change/delete files).
▪ Open the License Server Manager again and then open the Settings window.
▪ Press the button in the "Server license file" field and load the < Name.LCS file.
▪ Select the LOG file to use to write the protocol for the starts/stops of the license server
and the login/logout of the users too. You must have full rights in the folder where the log
file stays (add/change/delete files).
▪ With the Clear log file button you can delete all entries in the log file from time to time to
keep a better overview.
▪ Define the port to use.
For example, you can use port 999. You can use any TCP/IP port number as long as it is not
used by any other service (for example port 80 is used for http protocol and port 21 is used
for FTP communication). Port 999 is free on Windows operating systems
▪ Save your settings by using the OK button.
As soon as a license file is defined in the settings, the SEE Electrical License Server
Manager displays the serial numbers, the modules, the levels and the number of licenses
available in your license.
▪ To start the server, press the Start Server button.
You can see if the server is running or not in the "Current status" field.
▪ To stop the server, press the Stop Server button.
Inform the users that the local server is available and that they can license the SEE Electrical
on their local computers now.
When the users log in to the local license server, the number of the currently used licenses
currently will be updated in the License Server Window in the Available licenses section.
Notes:
The PC license number of the client using a license is shown in the "Licenses in use" section.
Request the license, by clicking on Licence button. You can release it with Free Licence.
▪ FLEXIBLE – license is taken every time the computer starts and it stays through the
whole session. It can be manually released, and it is available for another computer
immediately.
Floating
A license will be taken from the license server each time SEE Electrical is started. The license
will be transmitted to the license server (and thus will be available again) as soon as SEE
Electrical is closed (except it is borrowed).
Use this function, when you want to use the software for certain amount of days in which you
will not have access to the local network. Define the number of days, you need to borrow the
license, in the "Borrowed day(s)" field. A maximum of 90 days is possible. (If the value in
"Borrowed day(s)" field is empty, the PC must be connected directly to the local license
server to work with the software).
▪ Press the License button.
The modules in the License wizard window will be displayed in green or in blue (in case you
borrowed the license). If you borrowed the license, the number of days left is also displayed.
Notes:
The "Unlock type" column shows if a module is purchased or rented. "Rented" is also shown, if the
license file has expired. In this case the expire date is shown, too.
The number of days left for borrowed licenses is shown in the "Licenses in use" section of the
license manager.
After the Local License Server is installed, it can only be moved via the following process:
Dongle protection cannot be used if the software is installed on terminal server. In case the software
is installed on terminal server (or remote desktop, that means in any case where RDP protocol used)
a message informs you in case protection by dongle is chosen.
In the License software on a local server SEE Electrical workstation license window, there is
the "Error. No license information. Incorrect serial number, product, version or password"
error message.
▪ Check which module is facing this error message. It is possible that the message refers to
a module that is not part of your license.
▪ If the error message appears in all modules, please check if the serial number and the
license password are correct. If you have entered everything correctly and the message
still appears, then enter the port you are using on the Local License Server computer in
the firewall settings.
▪ Please contact your software supplier or IGE + XAO, if you still have a problem.
In the License software on a local server SEE Electrical workstation license window, there is
the „Error: Cannot connect to the local license server“ error message.
▪ Verify if the IP address and the port on the Local License Server on the local SEE
Electrical workstation are corresponding to each other.
▪ Verify if the service on the Local License Server is running.
▪ Start the SEEServerManager.exe as Administrator and check the status in the lower right
area of the License Service Manager.
▪ In firewall of server please add the port you use for local license server. (Make sure that
firewall on the server allowed communication UDP TCP on the selected port on service
SeeProtectionService)
▪ If server used for local license server and client are not found in same IP-adress-segment,
make sure the port you use is correctly routed into the different segment of your network.
▪ Check that port you use is free on the server/active there. To do this type the MS-DOS
command (CMD) into "Netstat –a". All ports currently used on server are listed. If the local
license service is used, the port used by it should be found in the list. If it connection does
not work though, stop the local license service (Open the license manager and click "Stop
service"). Execute the command "Netstat –a“ again. Now the port used by local license
server must not be seen. If the port is seen though, it is used by another software too and
you must use another one fort he local license server.
▪ Please contact your dealer or IGE+XAO support, if you still have problems.
The SEE Electrical client shows the message „Error: Cannot connect to the local license
server“ when you try to license via the local server.
▪ Please check, if IP address and port are defined identical in settings in local license
server and on client computer in SEE Electrical.
▪ Please check, that service for local license server is running on server. To do so, start
"SEEServerManager.exe" as administrator and check status in lower right section of
"License Service Manager".
▪ In firewall of server please add the port you use for local license server.
▪ If server used for local license server and client are not found in same IP-adress-segment,
make sure the port you use is correctly routed into the different segment of your network.

When licensing, in the License software on a local server SEE Electrical workstation license
window, there is the „Incorrect Unlock code“ error message.
▪ On the server, the full access rights may be missing in the program directory or the LOG
file and the license file may be stored to a location that does not have a full access.
Please make sure that both files have full access. Otherwise, save the files on the
desktop or in the My Documents folder.
▪ Please contact your software supplier or IGE + XAO, if you still have a problem.
On start of local license server using button „Start Server“ there is a message „Server not
started“ in the status bar.
On SEE Electrical workstation in license window, there is the „Error: Incorrect license
request“ error message, when license is requested.
▪ Please check dates and version of the files and replace older ones with newer ones.
To do so:
▪ Open the folder c:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\IGE+XAO\SeeProtection\2\ on
the server/PC where you installed the new local license server and on client.
▪ Check files (Right click, open "Properties", open tab "Details" and check version.)
▪ Copy all files from folder c:\Program Files (x86)\Common
Files\IGE+XAO\SeeProtection\2\ of one computer to the other. Do not mix files.
▪ Register with administrator rights the SeeProtection.dll file on the PC you copied the files
to.
▪ Please contact your software supplier or IGE + XAO, if you still have a problem.
The server manager shows on the start the error message „The server ID does not match with
the server license file“.
▪ The server ID does not seem to match the ID of the local license server.
"Has something been changed in the hardware?
For example: has the network card been changed or an additional one was mounted? Have
USB components like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, UMTS, LTE-Adapter been plugged or unplugged?
▪ Another reason might be transfer of a virtual server to another host server.
The ID of the server must match the one used when creating the local license server, if this is
not the case, please contact your dealer.
After a new license file has been loaded, in server manager you do not see the new expire
date (if expire date is used).
▪ Sometimes it is necessary to reboot the computer where the license manager is running
before the new date is shown.
Never use a remote path for log and license files in SeeProtectionService unless the
local accounts (clients) have access to this.
"Microsoft Direct Access" is used to connect with workstations to work from other
locations. This sometimes uses IP6 addressing. So trying to license remote this does
not work with the local IP4 addressing
Problem is that wrong virtual IPV6 network card is used. It will work, if system is forced to
use the IP4 network connection via SeeProtectionConfig.exe.
