and young audiences with work that reflects contemporary culture. Frantic
Assembly's unique physical style combines movement, design, music and text.

Frantic Assembly is led by Artistic Director Scott Graham. Scott formed the
company with Steven Hoggett and Vicki Middleton in 1994, and continues to
collaborate with many of today's most inspiring artists. Having toured
extensively throughout the UK, Frantic Assembly has built an enviable
reputation as one of the most exciting companies in the country. The company
has also performed, created and collaborated in 30 different countries across
the world.

In addition to its productions, Frantic Assembly operates an extensive learning


and training programme, introducing 6,000 participants a year to the
company's process of creating theatre, in a wide variety of settings. Frantic
Assembly also delivers Ignition, an innovative vocational training project for
young men, particularly targeting those with little previous experience of the
arts.

Scott is Artistic Director of Frantic Assembly, co-founding the company in


1994. He has received nominations for his work on Beautiful Burnout (Drama
Desk Award, New York), Curious Incident (Olivier, Tony and Fred Astaire
Awards). With Steven Hoggett he won the TMA Award (now UK Theatre
Awards) for Best Direction for Othello.

He has provided movement direction for shows at the Royal National Theatre,
National Theatre Wales and Singapore Rep. He has developed and written
extensively about The Frantic Method. With Steven Hoggett, he has written The
Frantic Assembly Book of Devising Theatre(Routledge) and is Visiting
Professor in Theatre Practice at Coventry University.

Scott is passionate about creating opportunities for people who might see theatre
as a challenge or alienating, and believes that these new voices and fresh
perspectives are vital to the health of the arts sector.

What techniques does Frantic Assembly use?
The use of the body as the primary (but not exclusive) method for story telling. This can
include dance, mime, demonstrative movement, use of sound to create atmosphere and
mood, as well as dialogue. Music is very important in Frantic's work.

One of the most studied theatre companies, Frantic have an inimitable style
and have long delighted our audiences with their bold, collaborative and
dynamic approach.

Their work reaches far beyond the stage, with education and community
engagement playing a vital role in Frantic Assembly’s overall artistic vision, making
theatre accessible to a broad range of young people and aspiring professionals.
