Job Title: Windows Server Engineer

Job Description:

As a Windows Server Engineer, you are expected to proactively build, implement, and operate
services to enable reliable business capabilities based on the Microsoft Windows Server and its
supporting ecosystem. In order to accomplish this, you are expected to do the following:

1. Pair traditional system administration and engineering practices with automation,


observability and software development skills
2. Operate and administer Windows servers and management tools both on premise and
in the cloud with a system thinking mindset
3. Understand broad operational performance factors resulting from integrated systems
that account for such things as:
o Underlying
infrastructure (Container/virtualization/server/networking/storage
platforms)
o Workload performance characteristics
o Security and Controls requirements (Cybersecurity)
o Databases
o Data/integration
o Availability
o Latency
o Change management
o Monitoring
o Emergency response / Disaster Recovery
o Capacity and Utilization Management
4. Focus on automation of these elements to ensure consistency and integrity of the
Windows environment

Key Responsibilities:

1. End-to-End lifecycle support of Windows Server Operating system implementations


(Engineer, design, deliver, operate)
2. Provide engineering and design work of Windows server OS, security, and support
tools.
3. Enhance the effectiveness of Windows server hosting services and improve server
operations efficiency and reliability
4. Develop, design and optimize standard operating procedures
5. Provide O/S and hardware support for Windows servers
6. Lifecycle Management of Windows server (provisioning, decommissioning, migration)
7. Coordinate with Vendors to resolve problem, plan and manage server hardware and
software lifecycle
8. Provide rotational on-call support during ‘After-Office-Hours and Weekends’.
9. Conduct incident resolution and management to restore service and root cause analysis
10. Analyze and remediate Windows server security vulnerabilities
11. Develop and design automated solutions for processes related to the above
Job Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree/Engineering in a related field from a recognized university scoring GPA 6.0
and above
• 6 – 9 years of relevant work experience is required
• Associated Technical Skills:
o Experience knowledge in Microsoft Windows O/S (2008 / 2012 / 2016 / 2019)
o Experience in MS Failover Clustering and High Availability Technology
o Understands and applies API/Integration key concepts
o Infrastructure automation experience with automation tool such as Ansible, Puppet,
Terraformer, Chef, Saltstack, etc
o Experience in scripting/programming languages such as Python, PowerShell, Visual
Basic, .Net, Java, C, and C#
o Knowledge on Virtualization (VMWare and Hyper-V)
o Knowledge on System Center Configuration Manager tool (SCCM)
o Knowledge on System Center Operations Manager Configuration (SCOM)
o Basic infrastructure knowledge in Backup/Storage, Network, Terminal Server Services
o Familiar with container application platform e.g. Docker, Kubernetes, Openshift
o Familiar with IT Service Management process and tool (Service Now)
o Familiar or Experience with concept of Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery
(CI/CD) Pipelines
o Knowledge or experience with Cloud platforms (Azure, AWS)
o Familiar with CI/CD, Agile, DevOps methodology

o Experience in working in a global environment and virtual teams
o Strong technical written and communication skills; speaks and writes English fluently
