Weather System - CpE 3104 Case Study Report
Weather System - CpE 3104 Case Study Report
I. Introduction
In recent years, the Philippines has experienced an increase in extreme weather events, ranging from
typhoons to prolonged periods of heavy rainfall. As a response to these challenges, there is a
growing need for reliable and advanced weather stations that can provide accurate and timely
information to individuals and communities. This case study explores the development and
implementation of a sophisticated weather station to address these concerns.
II. Background
The Philippines, being an archipelagic nation, is particularly vulnerable to the impacts of climate
change. The frequency and intensity of typhoons have raised concerns about the safety and
well-being of the population. Additionally, the agricultural sector heavily depends on weather
patterns, making it crucial to have a robust weather monitoring system.
Microprocessor Integration:
Utilize a microprocessor, such as the 8086, for data processing and analysis.
User Interface
Real-Time Data Display:
Develop a user-friendly interface to display real-time weather data. Displays current
temperature.
Interval Update:
Schedule the update of the seven-segment display to occur once every hour, providing
a consistent overview of the average weather conditions.
IV. Conclusion
In conclusion, the advanced weather station addresses the pressing need for accurate,
real-time weather data in response to the rising challenges of extreme weather events in the
Philippines. This project is essential for disaster preparedness, agricultural planning, and community
safety. By focusing on providing reliable information on temperature, humidity, barometric pressure,
wind speed, and precipitation, the system contributes to informed decision-making in agriculture,
disaster management, and public safety.
Despite the ambitious scope, the project acknowledges its limitations, notably power
dependency and potential weather impacts. Availability of display enhances the system’s utility,
offering an hourly average of weather conditions, including indications of possible rain and current
temperature. This continuous display not only aids immediate decision-making but also positions the
