1. Foreword
The instruction is used in electronic, electronic hydraulic servo and screen displayed universal
testing machine.
2. Brief Introduction
2.1. Main function
Kunlun series universal test and control software V9.0, shortened form: SmartTest. It is mainly
used in tensile, compression, bending, shearing, torsion test with metal, rubber, plastic, cement
concrete, rock, composite material and other materials for variety types of testing machines.
3. Installation of Software
3.1. Installation
Double click “[Link]” to prepare for installing in installation disk, the following window will
pop up, and then click “Next”.

Installation path: click “Install” and can modify the path, click “Next” to start installation, click
“Finish” to complete it.
4. Instruction of Interface
4.1. Start
A. Turn on the power of the testing machine.
B. Turn on the power of the controller.
C. Turn on the power of the computer.
D. Start the software.
Software automatically connects to controller, opens the log in window. It will hint failure connection
after counting down 10 seconds if it is under unusual condition.
Reasons for failure connection:
A. Power of the controller is not connected, please check it.
B. USB connecting line is loose with the controller, please unplug and insert it again.
C. Please contact the supplier if there is another problem.
4.3. Login
Start software and then select user name for logging in, input password, click “Login”. It defaults
record name and password next time if it is selected with check mark.
Main interface includes: title column, tool column, value display column, and condition column.

Right click the left area of title to select channel in displayed menu, as the following picture:

Set the name of the coordinate by clicking the button in tool column at bottom of curve panel.
Other operation refers to (6.5. 2.2. Curve analyze ) and ([Link]. Operation in curve).
Modify the style and quantity of displayed curve according to set of layout, details refer to ([Link].
Layout).

Other functions’ instruction for control panel and operation refer to (5. Control Panel) and (6. Test).
5. Control Panel
Control panel is divided into test and non-test condition areas, the upper part is non-test condition
area which is used to adjust the space of machine for clamping specimen conveniently, the lower part is
test condition area which is used for test.
(Tensile tester) refers to ( 5.1. Control panel (tensile tester)).
(Servo type tester) refers to (5.2. Control panel (servo)).
(Screen displayed tester) : skips this part.

Set of control interface will pop up after clicking “Set” button, as the following picture:

Deformation: modify the source of deformation, and the condition of the "Use Extensometer" button
on the test screen is changed;
Before the test: modify pre loading, automatic zero clearing and other parameters before test.
End of test: modify the condition of software judging for stop, action after test ends and other
parameters after test ends.
Curve setting: modify the curve drawn entrance value and mode of curve in test.

Control quantity of median position: this value can’t modify, set in ([Link]. Main controller).
Max. control quantity: this value can’t modify, set in ([Link]. Main controller).
Initial control quantity: the initial quantity is performed when clicking “Test”.
Backout control quantity: it is used to reduce initial control quantity when reaching to entrance force,
and control mode is changed from open to close loop to perfect link.
Up control quantity: the initial quantity is performed when clicking “Up”.
Down control quantity: the initial quantity is performed when clicking “Down”.
6. Test
6.1. Brief introduction
There are multiple kinds of test programs, the following will take “tensile with mental” as an
example.

A: Tool column;
B: Data of specimen selecting area;
C: Search condition selecting area;
D: Test parameter displayed area;
All found number of group is listed in the data of selecting area, click “+” before number of group to
check all number in this group. Clicking number of group will display “Group parameter”, clicking
number will display “Test parameter”.
6.5.1. Search
Software default displays test of the current month, search according to number of group (fuzzy
query), tester (fuzzy query), range of date, as the following picture:

6.5.2. Analyze
Click “Analyze” in tool column to enter into the interface, select number, check and re-analyze data
are available in select area. It is made up of the following parts:
Set feature point: setting coordinate, name, and symbol of points are displayed in curve or not.

Set coordinate: set channel of X axis and Y axis coordinate and their units.
Saved as picture: save image of curve as picture.
Modify mode: modify feature point after selected (only modify selected), details refer to ([Link].
Modify feature point).
Confirm modified: save modification of feature points in this serial number.
Unmodified: return to initial or last modification.
Follow-up: move mouse to check data of point selected in curve.
6.5.6. Delete

Clicking “delete” will delete group of data or some piece of data if group number or some number is
selected which are able to multiple selected. Clicking “Delete” will delete all selected with check mark
item (if some item is selected with check mark and selected at the same time, it will delete the selected
with check mark ones).
6.5.7. Trash
Deleted data is stored in recycle bin, data deleted by mistake can be recovered when needed.

Select calibrated sensor at the left side of calibration interface (make sure the range of real
assembled sensor is accordance to the range of sensor in software).

7.3. Calibration
7.3.1. Set of calibration list
Set direction, quantity of segment, times, target value, content for calibration and other parameter
are in list at the right part of calibration interface.

“Calibration table of test results” is completed right now, “system calibration table” is parameter
used in current sensor, click “ ” button and then click “enter” button to save the parameter. Or clicking
“cancel” will not save parameter.
8. Project
Click “project” button in tool column to enter into management interface.

The left part is used to select type of test, select name of project is at the right part, double click a
project to enter into editing interface.
8.2.1. Conventional

Basic information includes type of test, name of program, description of program and executed
standard. User can modify description of program and executed standard.

Select load, extensometer, displacement, sensor and others for this program and set source of
composite channel.
[Link]. Display
Indicating value is displayed in windows which user can set channel, unit, precision and quantity of
window.
8.2.2. Parameter
[Link]. Setting
It includes parameter before test and result after test. The left side of parameters are available, the
right side of parameters are selected ones. Click one item in available parameter, and then click “ >
> ” to add it to selected parameter. Select one item in selected parameter, and then click “ << ” to
delete it.
Select one item in “Selected parameters”, its name, symbol, and displayed or not are able to be
modified. Click ↑ or ↓ to adjust position of it.

Click one item in available statistics, and then click to add it into selected statistics, then
select it in “selected statistics”, and then select one item in “available statistics parameter”, and then

★ Modulus of elasticity
Points P1 and P2 (in load-deformation curve) should be taken from elastic segment, which adjust
at proper position according to the percentage of curve, whose positions are related to calculation of
modulus of elasticity.
8.2.3. Control

Set source of deformation.
[Link]. Test
Set control mode of test: transverse beam displacement control, step editing, metal stretching.
Control method of metal stretching is only used in metal tensile test.
★ Transverse beam displacement control: set displacement speed for constant speed during test
process.
★ Step editing: there are control mode, control target, hold, condition, execute action, cycle and others.

★ Metal stretching: special control mode for method A and B of metal stretching test standard.
Selected mode: after shifting strain control (method A), stress control (method B) and nominal strain
control (displacement control), relative control mode and speed will change.
Advanced options: click ”advanced options” to enter into advanced options, be able to set switching
parameter from elastic phase to yield phase, and from yield stage to intensive stage.

8.2.4. Curve
Once setting the starting point of the drawing curve, it will start drawing when the load is larger than
the load at the starting point of drawing.
8.2.5. Report
[Link]. Default report
Set format and output parameter of report, button of tool column at the left side of report list are
“New”, “Edit” and “Delete”. Formats of “New” and “Edit” are similar, take “New” as example:

Select one item in “Available parameters”, and then click “>>” to add it into “Selected parameter” .

Printing curve: it will be printed in report if it is selected with check mark, or else will not be printed.
Stacking curve: it will draw all curves in one graph of curve if it is selected with check mark.
Curve offset: it is effective after “Stacking curve” is selected with check mark.
Display out border: it is effective after selected with check mark.

Click “complete” to enter into preview, as the following picture:

If set multiple reports, select one type of reports as default, click “print” button in test interface to
lead out default report.

It is similar to default report.
[Link].2. Import
Import a new Excel report for printing. Click to find and select an Excel file, and then click
“open” button to import it to software.

Above picture shows “Excel select area” and “Software editing area” .

Delete selected Excel report template.

Select saving path, input the name of file, and then save it.
Select the name of project and path, select the project and open it to import it.
9. Manage
Click “Manage” in tool column to enter into manage interface, check system information, log-in ID

9.3. Preference
Set default items after software starts: there are 3 choices, guide interface, last program interface,
program selected interface.
Demo mode starts or not: it will not collect data under demo mode.
Start simple mode or not: it will pop up a new window as click “New” after batch of test is completed
under simple mode. If not start simple mode, it will pop up a dialog box to ask to add test to this group or
a new group of test.
9.4.2. Controller
Parameters of controller include parameter for control, channel and sensor. Click “Controller” to
enter the interface.
★ Routine
Relative parameter (tensile tester)
Median control quantity: equipment does not go up or down when the valve is at this position.
Max. control quantity: max. control quantity of controller.
Protect times of max. control quantity: it will stop all operation when it exceeds protect times.
Min control quantity of single step: min. control quantity of every time.
Max. control quantity of single step: max. control quantity of every time.
Initial control quantity: control quantity before reaching the load at start point.
Control quantity of return: back-off value when reaching to control quantity of load at start point.

Limit protection value: software will automatically unload when the value of sensor reaches to this
value .
Execute protection value: protect value of sensor when going up or down.
Over speed protection value: software will automatically unload as the speed of sensor reaches to
this value.
