Sardar Jit Singh Chawla Memorial Inter School Cultural Fiesta


November 18, 2023 (Saturday)

RULES & REGULATIONS


• There is no participation fee for the event.
• The reporting time is 9 AM. All teams must register before 9:30 AM.
• All the participants must carry valid I-Card.
• The students of class 9th to 12th can participate in the events.
• The various events will be conducted simultaneously at different venues. Kindly send your
teams as per the schedule. The schedule will not be changed to accommodate the participants.
• The entry of contingent incharge or accompanying teacher is prohibited at the venues during
judgement.
• Any act of indiscipline or misbehavior will lead to disqualification of the participant(s) or
full contingent, as the case may be.
• Any presentation against social/professional decorum will lead to disqualification.
• The accompanying teachers will be served lunch by the host institute at GGNIMT Restaurant
(2nd Floor). However, the participants can buy eatables from the Food Corner set up at the
institute.
• No TA/DA will be paid to any participant or accompanying teacher.
• GGNIMT reserves the right to cancel any event.
• GGNIMT may retain all physical creations.
• The decision of the judges will be final and binding in all events.
• The list of event-wise participation should be submitted in prescribed format (attached) in
advance. On the spot entries will not be accepted.
• Three prizes viz. 1st, 2nd and 3rd will be declared in each event. Consolation prizes may be
given at the discretion of the judges.
• The entries must be submitted before November 10, 2023 via e-mail at

EVENTS & RULES
1. WHAT’S YOUR STORY
• A maximum of 3 students from each school can participate. Each entry will be considered
individually.
• A visual image will be shown and the participant will have to write a story on the basis of
that image.( e.g. an accident site).
• Time allowed is 60 Minutes, and Words Limit is 500-750.
• The judgement will be on the basis of thinking style, command on language, idea expression,
creativity etc.
• The participant can write story in any language (English, Punjabi, or Hindi).

2. JUST2MIN
• A maximum of 2 students from each school can participate in extempore. Each entry will be
considered individually.
• The topic will be given on the spot.
• The participant is expected to speak on the topic for 1.30 to 2 minutes, the warning bell will
be sounded after one & half minutes. If time exceeds 2 minutes or is less than 1.30 minutes,
the participant will be disqualified.
• The participant can speak in any one of the languages - English, Punjabi, or Hindi.
• The participant will be judged on fluency, creativity of ideas, command over language, body
language and confidence.

3. RANGOLI
• A maximum of 3 teams from each school are allowed. A team can consist of 1-3 participants.
• The participants can choose any theme of their choice.
• The size of Rangoli can vary between 24 x 24 inches to 30 x 30 inches.
• Only dry material is allowed.
• The participants must bring their own material (Pulses, Saw Dust, Colors, Pebbles, Flowers,
or any decorative material)
• Time allowed is 90 minutes.

4. ESSAY WRITING
• A maximum of 3 students from each school can participate. Each entry will be considered
individually.
• The topic will be provided on the spot.
• The participants can write in any of the three languages – English, Punjabi, Hindi.
• The time allowed is 60 minutes.
• The word limit should not exceed 400 words.

5. QUIZZARD
• Only one team form each school is allowed. A team can have a maximum of 3 participants.
• There will be multiple rounds based on Current Affairs, Punjab & Punjabi Culture, Nature
and Science, Personality Identification, World of Entertainment, Business, IT, etc.
• There will be maximum of 5 finalists. Screening will be done through written prelims.
• More rules may be shared on the spot.

6. POSTER MAKING
• A maximum of 3 students from each school can participate. Each entry will be considered
individually.
• Theme will be provided on the spot.
• Use /pasting of extra material is not allowed.
• The participants must bring their own material (drawing sheet of A3 size, pencils, colors,
erasers, boards, colors etc.)
• Maximum time allowed is 60 minutes.

7. CARTOONNG
• A maximum of 3 students from each school can participate. Each entry will be considered
individually.
• Theme will be ELECTIONS.
• Participants will bring their own drawing sheet (A3 size), pencils, eraser, board,
colors, etc.
• Maximum time allowed is 60 minutes.

8. MEHNDI
• A maximum of 3 students from each school can participate. Each entry will be considered
individually.
• One accompanying student is allowed whose ONE HAND UPTO FOREARM on both sides
will be used for applying Mehndi.
• Use of tattoos is prohibited.
• Any design /booklet/template or helping material in designing is not allowed.
• The participants will have to bring their own material like mehndi, etc.
• The maximum time allowed is 60 minutes.

9. FACE PAINTING
• A maximum of 3 teams from each school can participate. One team will comprise of two
members viz. an artist and an accompanying student whose face is to be painted.
• The participants can choose any theme of their choice.
• The participants must bring their own material like colors and brushes.
• Maximum time allowed is 90 minutes.
10. FOLK SONG (SOLO)
• Only one entry per school is allowed.
• Only three accompanists (musicians) are allowed.
• Song may be based on any culture and language. Filmy/movie/commercial songs are not
allowed. Only traditional folk songs are allowed.
• Time allowed is 3-5 minutes. First warning bell will ring after 3 minutes and second warning
bell will ring after 5 minutes.
• The participation will be considered disqualified if it exceeds 5 minutes or is vulgar/obscene
or socially unacceptable.
11. DANCING (SOLO)
• A maximum of 2 individual entries from each school are allowed.
• The maximum time limit is 5 minutes.
• Each entry must furnish their music on a high-quality CD/pen drive before the competition.
• Any dance form like ballet, hip-hop,cheerleading, contemporize, folkloric, lyrical, etc,
• The participants will be judged based on steps, rhythm, expression, and costume.

12. GROUP DANCE


• Only one entry per school is allowed. (2-10 members per group).
• The time limit for group dance is 8-10 minutes.
• Each entry must furnish their music on a high-quality CD/pen drive.
• The group can present folk dance/contemporary/Bollywood style. Props can be used.
• The participants will be judged based on steps, rhythm, expression, costume, and
coordination.
13. FLOWER ARRANGEMENT
• A maximum of 3 teams from each school are allowed. A team can comprise of maximum
of 2 members.
• The time allowed is 60 minutes.
• The participants can choose any theme of their choice.
• The participants must bring their own material.
• The flowers should be either fully fresh or fully artificial.

14. WORKING MODEL DISPLAY


• A maximum of 3 teams from each school are allowed. A team can comprise of maximum
of 3 members.
• The participants can bring their activity models (may be already prepared). The participants
must be able to explain the concept.
• The models must be in working condition.
• The models related to sciences, environment, technological application, computer-based,
etc. can be presented. However, there is no binding on type of model.

15. PAPER READING CONTEST


• A maximum of 3 individual entries from each school are allowed.
• The participant can speak in any one of the languages - English, Punjabi, or Hindi.
• The participant can read out the writeup on the given theme.
• Theme is “India as a Super Power” or “Impact of AI on Humans.”
• The time allowed is 3-4 minutes.
• The student should bring the WRITE-UP neatly hand- written/typed. A copy of
the same will be submitted to panel of judges.

16. ON THE SPOT CAMERA TRICKS


• A maximum of 3 individual entries from each school are allowed.
• The participant must bring his/her own digital camera or mobile phone with a good quality
camera.
• The card will be formatted before the start of the event, if required.
• The theme will be given on the spot.
• The participant must submit 3 photographs for the judgment.

17. SALAD COMPETITION


• A maximum of 3 teams from each school are allowed. A team can comprise of maximum of
3 members.
• The participants must bring their own material.
• The participants can choose any theme of their choice.
• The various parameters for the judgement are carving, nutritional value, aesthetic sense,
garnishing and presentation, etc.
• The maximum time allowed is 90 minutes.

18. POWERPOINT PRESENTATION


• A maximum of 3 individual entries from each school are allowed.
• The use of MS-PowerPoint is must.
• Main theme for presentation is “India in 2030” OR “Humans and AI”. However, the student
is free to choose any sub-theme within the broad gamut.
• The time limit for presentation is 4-6 minutes.
• The participant can present the topic in any language -English, Punjabi, or Hindi.
• The participant must bring his /her own soft copy of presentation in virus free CD and/or
in Pen drive. GGNIMT will provide facilities of LCD & Laptop.
• The participants will be judged based on content, design of PPT, way of presentation and
confidence and body language. The participants have an option of using the paper along with
the presentation.

19. CASE BASED GROUP DISCUSSION


• A maximum of 3 individual entries from each school are allowed.
• A case study/write up will be given for reading for 30 minutes.
• A group discussion of 10 minutes will be held based on the case study.
• The judgment will be based on ideas, sense of team spirit, command on language, behaviour,
and contribution in solution etc.
• The participants can choose any of the three languages – English, Punjabi, Hindi.

20. JEWEL CRAFT


• A maximum 3 individual entries per school are allowed.
• The maximum time allowed is 60 minutes.
• The participants have to make jewelry (a necklace or a choker with a pair of earrings).
• The participants can use beads, pearls, stones, thread, doris or clay as per their choice and
creativity. They can also use wires, threads, loops, rings, and locks etc. as need to assemble
the jewelry.
• The criteria for judgement are creativity, decoration process, authenticity, neatness, and
workmanship.

21. FUNK WITH JUNK


• A maximum of 3 individual entries per school are allowed.
• The maximum time allowed is 60 minutes.
• The participants have to create one useful item out of waste material such as wool, cartons,
plastic bottles, magazines, newspapers, buttons, bangles, ice cream sticks, CDs, old
wireframes, toy parts, etc.
• Other than waste material, glue/fevicol, pins, colors, lace, scissors, thread etc. can be used to
enhance and give finishing to art work.
• The criteria for judgement are creativity, workmanship, innovation, usability/practicality of
object made and timely completion.

22. MATRIX FASHION SHOW


• The teams can present a fashion show on any theme of their choice.
• A team can comprise of 6-10 participants.
• The time allowed is 6-10 minutes. Each team will be given additional 1 minute in the
beginning for introducing the theme/participants.
• The participants must bring their own recorded background music.
• The participants should come dressed up. However, Green Rooms will be provided.
• The Stage size will be 12’ x 20’.
• The following titles will be declared from amongst all the participating teams:
• Best Costume
• Best Male Model
• Best Female Model
• Ms. Catwalk
• Mr. Stylish
