(iii) Every floor of a 20-storey building is 5m high. If a lift moves 2m every second, how long will it take to move from 3rd floor to 15th floor? Starting point of the lift = 3rd floor Finishing point of the lift = 15th floor Numbers of floors the lift climbed = 15 – 3 = 12 floors Height of each floor = 5m Total distance moved by the lift = 5 x 12 = 60m ∴Time taken by lift to move from 3rd floor to 15th floor = 60 ÷ 2 = 30 seconds
