1.Overview
Microsoft Corporation is an American multinational technology
corporation headquartered in Redmond, Washington. Founded in
1975 by Bill Gates and Paul Allen, Microsoft is best known for its
Windows line of operating systems, the Microsoft 365 suite of
productivity applications, and the Edge web browser.
Microsoft is a major player in several industries, including:
• Personal computing: Microsoft Windows is the dominant
operating system for desktop and laptop computers
worldwide.
• Productivity software: Microsoft Office, which includes

applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, is


used by millions of businesses and individuals around the
world.
• Cloud computing: Microsoft Azure is a leading cloud

computing platform that offers a wide range of


services, including virtual machines, storage, databases, and
analytics.
• Gaming: Microsoft is a major player in the video game
industry, with its Xbox console and Xbox Game Studios.
