1. PURPOSE

The purpose of this document is to describe steel support installation and required tools, drawing,
materials. This procedure shall be applied during cable Tray Installation works.

2. SCOPE OF WORK

The scope of work shall be applicable on all steel support works on project plant.

2.1. REFERENCE DOCUMENTS

The reference documents required to works with this procedure are:

- Specification for steel support

- Specification for Installation Detail Cable Tray
- Related applicable cable tray layout

2.2. TYPE OF STEEL SUPPORT

Type of conduit shall be installed :

- Hot dip galvanized

2.3. INSTALLATION ENVIRONMENT

Installation locations are in outdoor application. Any requirement about these environments shall
be concerned during installation. Technical and safety concern shall be applied.

2.4. METHODS OF LIFTING

- Worker must be follow “Working at High” training.

- Work permit already approved by client.
- Ensure the position of the body is correct.
- Provide safety sign and barricade at work area.
- If working area cannot protect by scaffolding platform, contractor shall provide life line

2.5. METHODS OF INSTALLATION

The following type of installation:

- Outdoor.
Installation method will use traditional method by arrange some people along side of cable
tray.

2.6. MAN POWER

Steel support Installation arranged people during this activity. Team shall be know manual
installation is skill people and need two helper and welder for fabrication / install steel support. A
leader (foreman) shall have good skill to directing the team. And due to the work area in live
platform, every people which work in this activity shall have high safety awareness.

3. INSTALLATION MANUAL

The following checks and confirmation shall be made prior to starting the work.
- Confirm safety and security regulations (concerning work permit, safety training, etc.)
- Confirm documents (project specifications, working drawings, manufacturer’s drawings,
work specifications, etc.) required for executing the construction work.
- Confirm whether the work schedules have been prepared.
- Materials shall be checked in accordance with the construction drawings. Shortage of
material shall be informed to CLIENT/CONTRACTOR.
- Confirm whether equipment and material that will be used meet with the
relevant specifications.
- Since installation of steel support involves work at high place, scaffolding shall be
provided and necessary sufficient safety measures shall also be provided such as safety
net if work to be performed at pipe rack area.
- Confirm the organization required for carrying out the construction work required.

3.1. STEEL SUPPORT FABRICATION WORK

Material Inspection
 Steel support material shall be certificate and identified with number quantity of materials.

 Steel material delivered to the shop shall be placed on sleepers so that the steel shall not
be in direct contact with the ground.
 All steel materials shall be confirmed by visual that plates and profiles are free from scars,
surface defect, damage and foreign matter.
 It shall be checked that the thickness and other dimension of steel materials are with in the
allowable tolerance specified in the applicable standard.

Welding
 The welder shall be certified and qualified.
 Welding joint preparation may be made by machining, grinding or gas cutting. The joint
surface shall be grinded to obtain sound metal and smooth surface.
 Welding shall not be done when surface are wet or, exposed to rain, or high winds, nor
when welders are exposed to inclement conditions.
 After complitation of welding, visual inspection shall be performed to the surface &
appearance of weld.

3.2. STEEL SUPPORT PAINTING WORK

Aplication Requirement
 Before each coating applied, surface must be roughening with sand paper according to
specified cleaning degree.
 The surface must be always clean & dry.

Painting Condition
 Painting is not carried out when :
 Heavy rain condition;
 The friction joint should be paint primer only;
 Heavy wind condition;
 The relayive humidity lower than 90% and higher than 70%.

Application Procedure
 All coating material shall be applied with airspray roller brush and touch up coating by
brush for minor areas.

 All coating shall be mixed with mechanical agitator and according to proportion ratio, shall
follow manufacture recommendation for each coating used.
 All coating material shall be used before reaching the pot life internal as recommended by
coating manufacture.
 Thinning is may be required to compensate the application and only the recommended
thinner for each type shall be used. The amount of thinner used should not exceed over
the recommendation.

4. SAFETY CONCERNS

 All Samjin Personnel and Sub Contractor Personnel shall inducted by SHE Department.
 All Construction Equipment to be inspected by Kine JO HSE, COMPANY Project EHS and
tagged as approved for use.
 Approved Job Safety Analysis (JSA) shall be read out on tool box meeting before installation.
Safety will be first priority to do all activities.
 Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) shall be worn in the working area.
Mandatory PPE shall be worn such as safety helmet, safety shoes, and safety glasses.
 Ensure permit is already issued / approved.
