Introduction PDF

This document provides an introduction to robotics for kids. It begins by welcoming students to learn about robots, how they work, and what they can do. It then defines a robot as a machine that can be programmed to perform tasks autonomously or with human control. The document explains that robots have sensors to sense their environment, microprocessors to think and make decisions, and actuators to take action. It provides several examples of how robots are used in manufacturing, medicine, service roles, and more. In conclusion, the document states that robots are machines that can perform tasks on their own by sensing their environment, thinking to make decisions, and taking action.

THRIVE ROBOTICS ACADEMY FOR KIDS

1
INTRODUCTION
 Today in this class we delve into the exciting world of robots and
explore the basics of what they are, how they work, and what they can
do.

 Whether you are a curious beginner or an experienced professional,

this class will provide valuable insights into the fascinating field of
robotics.

 At the end of this class, you will have a newfound appreciation for
robots and their capabilities, and be equipped with the knowledge to
delve deeper into this exciting field.

W H A T IS R O B O T ?
We’ve seen them in movies, in factories, and even at home. But what exactly is
a robot?

 At its most basic definition, a robot is a machine that can be programmed to

perform certain tasks on its own, without human intervention.

 Robots come in all shapes and sizes, from small vacuum cleaners to large
industrial machines.

 They can be controlled by a human operator, or programmed to work

autonomously.

3
CONTINUITY…
 Some robots even look like us, designed to perform tasks that require
human-like movements or interactions. These robots are called humanoid
robots and they can be seen in research labs, museums, or even
entertainment venues.

 One of the most common uses of robots is in manufacturing.

 Robots can work more efficiently than humans, and they can work 24/7
without getting tired.

 Robots are also being used in the medical field, performing surgeries with
greater precision and accuracy than human hands.

A course in robot ics t rains and educat es a st udent in the field of
artificial intelligence, computer- aided manufacturing, computer
integrated manufacturing system, computational geometry, robot
motion planning, digital electronics and micro processing.

Robotics is an essential component in many modern

manuf act uring indust ries. As t he industries increases, scope for
robotics also increases.

Robots are mainly used for carrying materials including heavy

parts to and from inconvenient locations and handling hazardous
materials like nuclear waste.
