 OBJECTIVE

To prepare the presentation of project analysis of a product and prepare a

report highlighting the product, brand, industry, market competition,

marketing strategy. The product that was chosen under this presentation called

(PRODUCTION OF DISINFECTANT) as the case study is the analysis of

AOC DISINFECTANT liquid solution.

 WHAT IS DISINFECTANT

Disinfectants are antimicrobial agents that are applied to non-living objects to

destroy micro-organisms that are living on the object. They are different from

other antimicrobial agents like antibiotics which destroys micro-organisms

within the body and antiseptics, which destroys micro-organisms on living

tissues.

Disinfectants are also different from biocides-the latter are intended to destroy

all forms of life, not just microorganisms. Disinfectants work by destroying the

cell wall of microbes or interfering with the metabolism. Sanitizers are

substances that simultaneously clean and disinfect.

Disinfectants and antiseptics are many active chemical compounds called

biocides, which can fight microorganisms on nonliving surfaces and human

skin. These biocides, such as alcohol, iodine, and chlorine, have been used for

years. This article will describe some of the most commonly used disinfectants

in hospitals and home and their coverage

 BRAND PROILE OF AOC DISINFECTANT

AOC DISINFECTANT is an ionic brand from Too-Sure Group Lab. It is a

brand of multi-purpose liquid disinfectant that is mostly used domestically in

various homes or places of work, for diverse purposes. The liquid disinfectant

is mostly used for bathing and washing, it can also be used when cleaning

utensils, cleaning wound areas of the skin, and lots more.

AOC DISINFECTANT helps to kill harmful germs and other bacteria, or as the

case may be, and helps to prevent the spread of germs and harmful bacteria,

and protect against illness or infections that can be caused by germs.

The brand remains up-to-date through the launch of new products relevant to

changing life styles such as hand sanitizer, liquid hand wash, shower gel, all

purpose cleaners and antibacterial wipes.

 GROWTH OF AOC DISINFECTANT LIQUID SOLUTION

AOC DISINFECTANT had to expand the usage beyond cuts and bruises. Hence

Too-Sure Group Lab unleashed a campaign aiming to expand the usage of the

brand to an all purpose disinfectant that can be used for shaving, rinsing, and as

a general disinfectant.

Interestingly this multi-usage of AOC Disinfectant Liquid solution paved the

way for the next generation of AOC Disinfectant Liquid solution. AOC

Disinfectant Liquid solution saw over these years plenty of brand extensions.

The first launch was the soap in 2015. The initial launch was unsuccessful

because the brand moved from core value of protection to love and care. Since

the brand faltered in its positioning, failure was imminent. The soap was again

relaunched with positioning as“100% protection" and now have a reasonable

market share.

The next extension was in the form of liquid soap. The liquid soap category is

only 12 crore worth but the hand wash category is expected to grow to 100

crore.The brand also tried to extend to talc, band aid, and shaving gel but failed

miserably in those categories.

 ANALYSIS OF CHEMICALS USED IN THE PRODUCTION OF AOC

DISINFECTANT LIQUID SOLUTION

1. Texapon: The Taxapon is a jellylike and pasty substance, it functions as a

foaming agent in the production. The Texapon is a detergent that

produces micelles that allows non-polar substance such as oils to be

dissolved in water.

2. Phenol: Phenol, also known as hydroxyl benzene is a colorless aromatic

compound with a very sweet smell (it sometimes, comes in brownish

color too). It is one of the disinfectants in used in the production of AOC

Disinfectant Liquid solution; however, in small concentrations. Phenol

can also be used as a mouth wash.

3. Chloroxylenol: This is also known as para-chloro-meta-xylenol (or PCMX),

it is the main antiseptic agent in the production of AOC Disinfectant

Liquid solution, and helps to kill germs and for disinfection of the skin.

Also used together with alcohol for cleaning and disinfecting surgical

instruments.In higher concentrations, Chloroxylenol may cause some

form of irritation to the skin and inflammation, so care must be taken to

ensure the measurement during the production.

4. Isopropyl Alcohol: Isopropyl Alcohol also known as IPA, is also one of the

vital ingredients used in the production of Liquid AOC Disinfectant

 Liquid solution. It is a colorless compound, with a very strong smell. Its

powerful antiseptic effects make AOC Disinfectant Liquid solution have

the ability to fight and kill bacteria, fungi, and viruses, especially in

wound treatment.

5. Pine oil: Pine oil is an extract from Pine trees. It is also an antiseptic and

disinfectant substance with a very pleasant smell and can also be used as

a healing oil for cold. Pine oil also helps to relieve skin inflammation.

When in water, it emulsifies (i.e. forms a cloudy solution.) It makes the

AOC Disinfectant Liquid solutionform that cloudy solution when

dropped in water. The use of Pine oil is very verse and not limited to the

above-mentioned, it can also be used for bathing antiseptic soaps, bath

oils, etc. It can be effective too in the healing of arthritis

PRODUCTION OF AOC DISINFECTANT LIQUID SOLUTION

Required Measurement For The Production Of 5 Liters for AOC

Disinfectant Liquid solution

1. TEXAPON ¼ kg

2. PINE OIL ½ liter

3. PHENOL 1/8 liter

4. CHLOROXYLENOL ¼ liters

5. ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL (IPA) 2 liters

6. WATER (Distilled) 2 litres

7. COLORANT as desired.

Note, emplace of water, you may use methanol or ethanol; or the mixture of

both (i.e. water plus methanol). We only need them to properly dissolve other

constituents in the production of Dettol Liquid Disinfectant.

EQUIPMENT & TOOLS

  Clean Bowl that can contain 5liters volume without spillage. Preferably
a plastic
 bowl or container.
 A wooden or plastic stirrer
 Funnel
 Packaging containers
SIMPLE STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE

Step 1: Pour the Texapon into empty clean bowl.

Step 2: Add the Pine oil and stir properly until the Texapon is dissolved
completely.

Step 3: Add Phenol to the mixture and stir properly

Step 4: Add Chloroxylenol and stir properly. Note the mixture will turn slightly
brownish.

Step 5: Gently pour the amount of water and stir gradually. The mixture will
immediately become cloudy or whitish; this is normal.

Step 6: Now add the Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA). Continue to stir until the mixture
turns brownish again, to get a perfect blend.

Step 7: Dissolve the color (brown) in a little quantity of water and mix well.
Then add bit by bit into the main bowl, while stirring continuously until the
desired coloration is reached. Note that this should be the last constituent to
be added. Stir very well.

SAFETY TIPS DURING PRODUCTION:

 o Please do note that the production should never be so urgent or

so important that you don’t take the time to carry it out safely.

o Make sure you put on the right protections before commencing

the production. The need for use of rubber hand gloves, nose

masks, face shields, etc., cannot be overemphasized.

o Carry out all production and an open and well-ventilated

environment. Also, make sure it is well illuminated. In the event

of a chemical splash to the skin or other part of the body

exposed, quickly wash with clean running water, then proceed

immediately to see medical personnel for further checks.

o Please do not taste any chemical, or directly inhale it.

o Please keep all chemicals away from the reach of children.

HOW TO KNOW IF YOUR PRODUCTION IS OKAY.

Take a little quantity of your AOC Disinfectant Liquid solution (just a capful

and add into a bucket containing water. On first contact with water, you
should observe a cloudy formation. If this is confirmed, then you are good to

go.

HOW TO PACKAGE YOUR AOC DISINFECTANT LIQUID

SOLUTION FOR COMMERCIAL PURPOSE

The need for good packaging cannot be overemphasized when you are

producing AOC Disinfectant Liquid solution for commercial purposes.

Packaging is an important factor you must take seriously if really you want to

do well in this business. Mind you, there are lots of competitorsout there in the

market.

The brand ‘ AOC Disinfectant Liquid solution' is able to gain a huge position

in the market today, not because it is the best liquid disinfectant out there, they

may be among the best no doubt; have you closely taken a look at how they

packaged their product, compared to other competitors in the market. Their

products is so beautiful and unique. This is part of the reason they are selling

so fast.

Economic implications of AOC

The global disinfectants market will grow from $6.16 billion in 2022
to $6.8 billion in 2023 at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of
10.3 percent.
 RECOMMENDATION / CONCLUSION
Dettol Antiseptic Liquid is a proven safe and effective disinfectant
and antiseptic that kills various bacteria and provides protection
against germs which can cause infection
and illness. It has more than 83% market share.It can be used safely
for gentle antiseptic wound cleansing and disinfecting. It is available
in a wide range of sizes from 50 ml to 500 ml.
