Present Continuous Tense
• an ongoing action, something that is happening at this very moment
e.g. The dog is chasing the black cat.
e.g. We are reading in the library now.

Past Continuous Tense
• an action that had continued for some time in the past
e.g. It was raining the whole morning.
• an action that was going on in the past when a shorter action took place
(the continuous action is in the past continuous tense while the shorter
action is in the simple past tense)
e.g. When we were sitting for the English test yesterday, we heard a
loud band.
• two actions that were both continuing at the same time in the past (both
actions are in the past continuous tense)
e.g. While my mother was cooking, my sister was playing with her toys.

Verbs ending with ‘e’, add ‘d’ dance danced
