Razilah wants to upgrade the plastic food ware sets by patching the ribbons around the food ware.
She used a piece of ribbon that has length 216π cm cutting to paste on the 7 pieces of plastic food
ware. The diameters of each food ware increasing by 1 cm consecutively.
Calculate
(a) the length, in term of π, of ribbon to paste on the smallest plastic food ware. [3 marks]
(b) For Hari Raya promotion Radzilah add extra number of food ware in each set. If she fixed 48π
ribbon to paste on the largest food ware, how many food ware are in the promotion set? [3 marks]

3 Ramesh bought a certain number of pens for RM 60. If each pen had a discount of 20 cents, he
could have bought 10 more pens for the same amount of money. Find the number of pens that
Ramesh bought. [6 marks]

8 (a) A study shows that 15% of the students in a city spend more than 5 hours in a week on the
internet. If 10 students are chosen randomly, calculate the probability that
(i) exactly 4 students spend more than 5 hours in a week on the internet.
(ii) less than 3 students spend more than 5 hours in a week on the internet. [5 marks]
(b) The masses of durians produced in an orchard are normally distributed with a mean of 3 kg and
a standard deviation of 0.65 kg.
(i) If a durian is chosen randomly from the orchard, find the probability that the mass is more than 4
kg.
(ii) The durians which have masses less than 2 kg will be categorized as grade B. In a lorry which
loaded with 500 durians, how many durians will be categorized as grade B? [5 marks]

(a) Using year 2014 as the base year, calculate the composite index for the annual expenditure in the year 2016.
[4 marks]
(b) It is expected that the increase in expenditure from the year 2016 to the year 2018 is at the same rate as that
from the year 2014 to 2016.
(i) Calculate the composite index for the year 2018 based on the year 2014.
(ii) Calculate the expected expenditure on maintenance in the year 2018. [6 marks]
13. Diagram 5 shows a robotic car moves in a straight line and passes through a fixed point O. Its velocity, v m min-1
is given by v = t2 -5t + 4, where t is the time, in minutes, after passing through a fixed point O.
Diagram 5
The robotic car stops instantaneously firstly at point P and then point Q.
[Assume motion to the right is positive]
(a) Find the displacement, s, in terms of t, from O at the time t minutes, [3 marks]
(b) Calculate the distance PQ, in metres. [4 marks]
(c) Given that R is the point where the robotic car has zero acceleration, determine whether R is nearer to the
point O or to point Q. [3 marks]

15. Encik Yusof operates two petrol stations, P and Q in a city. Petrol station P sells 5000 litres of unleaded petrol,
4000 litres of leaded petrol and 1000 litres of diesel each day. Petrol station Q sells 3000 litres of unleaded petrol,
5000 litres of leaded petrol and 2000 litres of diesel each day. Encik Yusof signed a contract to sell at least 150000
litres of unleaded petrol, at least 200000 litres of leaded petrol and at least 60000 litres of diesel monthly. Given
the number of days petrol station P and petrol station Q needed to be operated in a month in order to fulfil the
contract are x and y respectively.
(a) Write three inequalities, other than x ≥ 0 and y ≥ 0 that satisfy all the above constraints. [3 marks]
(b) Using a scale of 2 cm to 10 days on both axes, construct and shade the region R which satisfies all the above
constraints. [3 marks]
(c) If the cost of operating petrol station P and petrol station Q in a day are RM1000 and RM 500 respectively, by
using the graph constructed in (b), find the number of days petrol station P and petrol station Q must be
operated so that the cost of operation is minimized. Hence, calculate the minimum cost of operation. [4
