CONTENT STANDARD Year 1 - 2.1 Concepts of addition and Year 2 - 2.1 Add within 1000.

LEARNING STANDARD Year 1 - 2.1.1 Use and vary the relevant vocabulary in context of addition and
subtraction. 2.1.2 Introduce the symbol of addition, subtraction and ’equal to’.
Year 2 - 2.1.1 Add two numbers within the sum of 1000. 2.1.2 Add three numbers
within the sum of 1000.
Year 3 - 2.1.1 Solve the number sentences involving addition of two numbers with the
sum within 10 000. 2.1.2 Solve the number sentences involving addition of three
numbers with the sum within 10 000.
PRIOR KNOWLEDGE Pupils are able to tell numbers.
LEARNING OBJECTIVE(S) - By the end of the lesson, most of the pupils are able to :
Group A 1. 8.1 To write the mathematical sentence for the operation for addition by the process of
regrouping. i. To state the number of objects in the group (not more than 9 objects). ii. To
combine two groups of objects to state the total.
Group B 2. 8.1 To write the mathematical sentence for the operation for addition by the process of
regrouping. iii. To make two groups of objects and place the number cards after counting all the
objects in the group. iv. To write the mathematical sentence for the
Group C 3. 8.2 To complete the mathematical sentence for addition involving numbers to 18. i. To write
the mathematical sentence for addition based on pictures. ii. To complete the mathematical
sentence.
SUCCESS CRITERIA(S)
Group A Pupils able to answer 10 questions of addition. (state number in the group & combine two groups of object).
Group B Pupils able to answer 10 questions of addition.(combine two groups and place the number card and write mathematical sentence)
Group C Pupils able to answer 10 questions of addition. (Write mathematical sentence based on pictures)
