Making the right choice is not easy, especially when it concerns your future. When we were younger, our parents and other
adults in our family made decisions for us. However, they no longer do this for us now that we are older.
Choosing is a career is a major task in Junior High school. It is during this year when you are need to decide whether to pursue
college education. Technical-vocational, sports and arts or entrepreneurship. As you are faced with dilemma, you can examine the
internal factors that may affect decision-making. These are talent, skills, abilities, financial capability, and ambition. In these lesson,
you will demonstrate understanding of how these internal factors that affect career path choices: academic degree, technical-vocational
diploma, sport and arts, entrepreneurship or employment.

Who You Are and What You Can Do: Finding Career Connection
Can you decide on what career path to pursue? Would it be college, technical-vocational or entrepreneurship?
You are now in your adolescent years and your personality and abilities are developing. Your values, skill, and talents are also
emerging.
At this stage in your life. You should learn more about yourself. It is knowing who you are and what you are able to do that you
can make a good choice. Understanding your personality is your first step.

Occupational Theme Description Example


Realistic type (Doers) -people who like mechanical activities, outdoor activities Carpentry, auto mechanic,

Holland’s Theory can be summarized as:
- People of the same personality type working together in a job create a work environment that fits their type.
- People search for environments where they can use their skills and abilities and express their values and attitudes.
- People who choose to work in an environment similar to their personality type are more likely to be successful and satisfied.
How you act and feel toward your work depends to a large extent on the people who have personality type like yours. Because of this,
you will be able to do many things they can do and will feel most comfortable with them.
You are most likely to choose a satisfying career if you choose one that fits your personality type and your value system.
