HYPOTHESIS
Disadvantages:
1. Digital Divide: The impact of technology on culture is not evenly
distributed. The digital divide refers to the gap between those who have
access to technology and those who do not. This divide exacerbates
existing inequalities and can marginalize certain cultures or
communities with limited access to technology.
2. Loss of Authenticity: With the integration of technology into cultural
practices, there is a risk of dilution or distortion of cultural authenticity.
Digital platforms may promote a superficial understanding of culture,
leading to the loss of rich traditions, languages, and rituals.
3. Privacy Concerns: The widespread use of technology raises concerns
about privacy and surveillance. The digitalization of cultural practices
and personal information can lead to the exploitation of cultural
identities or invasion of privacy, compromising cultural autonomy and
integrity.
4. Dependence on Technology: Excessive reliance on technology can
lead to a loss of traditional skills and practices. Overreliance on digital
platforms for cultural expression or communication could erode offline
social interactions and diminish the richness of face-to-face cultural
experiences.
5. Cultural Homogenization: The rapid diffusion of technology can lead
to cultural homogenization, where dominant cultures and ideas
overshadow or replace local traditions. This cultural homogenization
can undermine cultural diversity, as globalized products and media
become more prevalent, potentially eroding unique cultural identities.
Methodology
As our world continues to evolve rapidly with the advancements in technology,
we're interested in understanding how these changes impact our culture. From
the way we communicate, create, and share art, to how we celebrate traditional
events, technology has become an integral part of our cultural evolution. The
purpose of this research work is to explore and analyze the influence of
technology on culture. To achieve this, a methodology has been developed to
collect and analyze data.
The chosen methodology for this study is the questionnaire method, which
involves the collection of data through a structured set of questions.
For this study, a set of twenty questions has been carefully crafted to address and
gather insights about how technology influences our cultural expressions. The
questions are designed to be clear, concise, and relevant to the research
objectives. Additionally, appropriate response options, in this case multiple choice
has been included to provide a range of data for analysis.
In this study, a random sampling technique is employed. This means that
participants will be randomly selected from the target population (teenagers and
adults) maximizing the chances of obtaining a representative sample. The data
collected is primary or firsthand data, although there was some use of secondary
data. The sample size is 40.
The chosen methodology of data collection through a questionnaire method with
20 questions provides a systematic approach to investigate and analyze the
sociological aspects within the chosen context. The structured approach ensures
the validity and reliability of the research findings. By following the outlined steps,
this project aims to contribute relevant insights into the field of sociology and
serve as a foundation for further studies in this area.
