importance of online safety and media balance.
Description of Software: Stop Motion is a free app to create videos from pictures that have been
designed by students. Stop motion has free music selections and green screen options they add.
Bloom’s Taxonomy Level(s): (Which level(s) will this lesson meet using this technology tool?)
Please put an X in the box or next to the level(s). Do not highlight or bold the response.
How do you plan to implement this lesson and integrate the technology? Check all that apply:
Teacher-led: There is no student voice and choice in the activities. Students are guided by the
teacher's direction and expectations. Learning activities are assigned to the student and mostly
practice based.
✘ Student-Led: Students are given voice and choice in the activities. They may select the topic of
learning and/or determine the tool they will use to meet the learning goal. The teacher facilitates
the learning as the students direct their own learning processes.
Problem-based and/or Publishable: Students are solving problems and completing projects to
demonstrate their learning. Additionally, the projects can be shared outside of the classroom.
(Note: This objective could be reached by displaying the project on the school’s morning
newscast, posting the project to the classroom blog, presenting it to another class, or publishing
it via an outside source.)

guide. Remember, this lesson MUST facilitate STUDENT-USE of an audio or video tool to
demonstrate their learning on a topic of your choice:
The activity for my students is they will create their own stop motion film about media safety.
Students will conduct a story board to plan out their media safety topic. The students will be able to
utilize the technology in the classroom after conducting their story board with teacher feedback and
approval to move on. I will conclude the lesson by allowing students to present their films to the
class and having discussions about each film and what information they learned from one another.
Managing student learning:
This lesson should shift students’ behavior to active learners because the lesson is student led and
designed for students to use their knowledge and creativity to conduct their own stop motion video.
Students will submit a storyboard before actively working on their videos and have in class time to
work with their groups to produce their project.
Universal Design for Learning (UDL) Reflection: Be sure to mention one specific UDL principle you
are focused on in this lesson – Multiple Means of Engagement, Multiple Means of Representation,
or Multiple Means of Action & Expression.
Students to engage in the activity. Students will express and represent their work freely and
creatively because they will have to design their own story through pictures and turn it into a video
using music and audio.
Reflection: While students are working on their project, I want to implement media balance and
safety. I think this activity will impact the students by wanting to be safer on the internet and
acknowledging when it’s time to take breaks from technology.
