ENGAGE: Personal Encounter with Jesus

LET'S DISCUSS THE FOLLOWING:
1. Describe your own personal Encounter with Jesus and include the feelings
felt.
2. Be specific about when, where how did it happen.
3. You may also mention some people who were involved in your encounter
with Jesus.
4. WHAT DID YOU FIND SIGNIFICANT IN YOUR PERSONAL ENCOUNTER WITH
JESUS?
5. WHAT IS JESUS TRYING TO TELL YOU NOW BASED ON YOUR PERSONAL
ENCOUNTER WITH HIM?
Every time I pray or attend church, I have a personal encounter with Jesus. It
feels good and lessens my worries because my problem has been settled, and I
am at peace. I immediately felt better as all the pain, suffering, sadness, and
negative feelings disappeared. One night, I was feeling down and sad and
didn't know what to do. I was by myself in my room, crying and thinking too
much about my future. And suddenly, I stopped crying. My fear, worry, and
negative thoughts vanished. God gave me the freedom to express myself and
made me realize some things, and he took away the burden I felt. I personally
encountered Jesus during those moments and felt his presence. My family was
by my side during all my highs and lows. They saw my struggles as well as how I
progressively improved. They are the ones who constantly encourage me to
always pray. I’ve realized that it is important to have a strong relationship with
Jesus and be close to him. If we have problems, don't forget to ask for help or
talk to him, and always keep in mind that he will never leave us and he will be
our guide through every aspect of our life. I also realized that we shouldn't
turn our backs on him when we are having a hard time. We should always
remember to pray. He hears all our prayers. God's presence may not always be
felt, but it doesn't mean he's not there. God will always guide me and never let
me down. I should trust him and have faith in him, and I just need to be strong
through any challenge that comes my way because he is always by my side.
Luke 23: 39-43
Dismas(the good thief)
Guide questions:
1. What was the person doing when he/she encountered Jesus?
He was crucified next to Jesus on the right side. Dismas rebukes Gestas and
declares Christ's innocence, and in one of the most incredible and moving
passages in the Gospel, he refuses to be removed from his certain and
torturous death. Instead, he makes the request to raise with Christ, saying,
“Jesus, remember me when You come into Your kingdom.

2. What did Jesus do that changed that person's ways of thinking?

Jesus promised him that he would be in paradise with him that very day. In
that way, Jesus changed the person's way of thinking.

3. What is your reflection on this story?

Jesus provided this dying man with a great opportunity for grace while experiencing the
tragedy of his own crucifixion. Jesus promised the dying criminal that he would be with him
in paradise. Jesus would remember him! Jesus is trustworthy, and he won't forget this man's
request. Along with our faith declarations, acts of kindness performed in his name, and
fidelity to the Father, Jesus will also recall these things. The deceased thief had never been
baptized, attended church, or taken part in the Lord's Supper. However, he turned from his
sin and put his faith in Christ, and as a result, he was saved. It reminds us that the Lord can
forgive sinners as long as they have faith in him and have repented. A believer's soul is in a
secure and peaceful place once they die.
SIGNS OF HOLINESS IN TODAY’S WORLD (Chapter IV, G.E.)In
Chapter 4 of this Exhortation, Pope Francis listed down these are
five great expressions of love for God and neighbor:

MAKE A BRIEF ANAYLYSIS OF the Result of your SELF-

ASSESSMENT:

1. DESCRIBE in texts the status or condition of your holiness

based on your SELF-ASSESSEMENT

-Based on my answers to the self-assessment, most of my rate is on the medium scale

because I know for myself that my holiness is not that high.

2. HIGHLIGHT one or two Significant lessons and explain why

they are significant

-One of the most significant lessons I've learnt is to remain persistent in

everything because it will all be worthwhile in the end. Don't give up, as long as
you are able to endure and fight. Being a follower of Jesus and having faith in
him is one of the most essential lessons I've ever learned. Always pray because
God is always listening, and this is how we can build a strong relationship with
the Lord. Our weapon against any difficulty is prayer.

3. What CONCLUSION can you make?

-I came to the conclusion that my level of holiness is not that high. I still need to
make it better. It's not so high considering that there are things that put my
sanctity to the test, particularly when I go through suffering, but I still remember
to turn to the Lord in all situations. Through this activity, I became aware of the
signs of holiness as well as where I could use improvement.
4. Make RECOMMENDATION as to how you can tip to the right
side or 3 (excellent) the five great expressions of love for
God and neighbor.

-Be generous to all the people around you. Encourage them and help them. Other
people appreciate even the smallest helping hand. Do not step on others. You should
love your neighbor as you love the Lord, because this is one of the things the Lord likes.
Be a prayerful person who believes and trusts in God. Never lose sight of the Lord, no
matter what. Through this thing, you can express your love for the Lord.
