Good morning tutor and

Step 2: Reading in context a fable for tomorrow

Step 3: Checking what you got

The story a fable for tomorrow

a. How was the town at the beginning of the story?

RTA

it is an entertaining text you can observe that it is in the heart of America where all life
seemed to live in harmony with its surroundings. The town lay in the midst of a
checkerboard of prosperous farms, with fields of grain and hillsides of orchards.

b . How is it

currently? RTA

of prosperous farms, with fields of grain and hillsides of orchards. Along the roads laurel,
viburnum and alder, great ferns and wildflowers delighted the traveller’s eye through much
of the year. a strange blight crept over the area and everything began to change. Some evil
spell had settled on the community: mysterious maladies swept the flocks of chickens; the
cattle and sheep sickened and died. Everywhere was a shadow of death. The farmers spoke
of much illness among their families. In the town the doctors had become more and more
puzzled by new kinds of sickness appearing among their patients. There had been several
sudden and unexplained deaths, not only among adults but even among children, who
would be struck suddenly while at play and die within a few hours.

c. How is it predicted to be in the future?

RTA

There was a strange stillness. The birds, for example – where had they gone? Many people
spoke of them, puzzled and disturbed. The feeding stations in the backyards were
deserted. The few birds seen anywhere were moribund; they trembled violently and could
not fly

Even the streams were now lifeless.

d. In your opinion, does the story give any message for us? Which one? Explain it on
your own words.

RTA

this story conveys the message of caring for the flora and fauna of the earth as this story
talks about the aver fish or trout and the variety of flowers that somehow is consistent with
our natural environment in a town so small but with great natural wealth and then the
change that generates environmental pollution to communities the death of children and
animals ends in a very sad way being the main engine the human being is why we must all
take care of our environment because we are in the future on the board of a park..

Step 2: Reading in context

After reading the story, answer the following suggested questions, in English. Then,
publish them on the forum:

How was the town at the beginning of the story?

it was a passifico place where you could find all kinds of natural wonders, also breathed
peace and tranquility among its inhabitants and travelers who visited the town.

How is it currently?

A town that was hit by misfortune in all aspects, both natural and personal to each
inhabitant. nothing was as it used to be, so much so that even the colors of the town
changed from green and colorful to gray and cold.

How is it predicted to be in the future?

A future where the inhabitants learn to cope with the changes and live with what has
happened, leaving it to time to bring peace back to the town.

In your opinion, does the story give any message for us? Which one? Explain it on your
own words.

The personal message that the reading leaves me with is to learn to face the good and bad
moments that forge us as a person, learning to overcome adversity.
2: you must interact and give opinion to your partners’ answers. This is part of the

Description of the place before the conflict. Sogamoso was a city that was dedicated to
trade and agriculture, this before the arrival
of the metal and brick industries but seeing
that Sogamoso had special materials for the
production of construction elements such as
brick, limestone, cement.
Description of the place after the conflict. Sogamoso became the second most polluted

worrying levels of pollution for the

Description of the place in the future. In the future it is expected that sogamoso

dealing with this issue and the little interest
that is being paid to it.

Conclusion of your story Sometimes we look more at how to make money, and we do
not realize that we have beauty and wealth in our fauna and
flora, in addition to the fact that they are ecosystems that are
not easily renewed, that is, and we can ask how much money
is it costing? our ecosystem? Is it so important to make
money at the cost of ending species of fauna and flora in
addition to damaging the water and air?

step 5

In Colombia there is a great variety of animals and plants, which makes it one of the
countries with the most megadiversity in the world, it has more than 1800 species of birds,
470 mammals, 520 reptiles and more than 750 amphibians. And if we talk about flora, 10%
of the existing species grow here in Colombia, it can be said that there is a variety of more
than 40,000 species of plants.

The oil companies are companies that to carry out the exploitations must dig deep and thus
obtain the oil, They find a land where there is an abundance of trees, plants and also
animals, they make the decision that they must extract the oil, for this they begin by
deforesting the land, ending with all kinds of plants existing on the land, in addition to the
species animals that are there.

After doing this, they proceed to carry out deep excavations from which gases that pollute
the air and water come out, producing negative effects for the environment and can even
cause cancer in people, so they also have a negative impact on the vegetation and animals
that live there. find around it.

we come across a land that one day was full of colors, an abundance of animals and plants,
an arid, deserted land, polluted air and full of machinery to extract oil, in the blink of an
eye they have finished with a whole ecosystem.

Finally, after the oil is extracted, a lot of time passes, and generally these fields remain
as oil fields, but the land is no longer the same despite the fact that the excavations are
deep and what once existed is lost, becoming buildings with people working and now
That is why it is important to ask ourselves why end an ecosystem having that wealth and
privilege in the country, in addition to knowing that it is something that cannot be
recovered. Before carrying out the extraction, they could think about how to conserve the
species, or how to mitigate the damage in that ecosystem.
