The workshop shall comprise 10 lectures and 3 to 4 hands-on sessions specifically designed for Geotechnical researchers and
practitioners. The topics include but are not limited to :

Geometry (mesh and boundary conditions), material models and parameters, initial conditions, and loading/construction sequence
Coupled-flow stress analysis, handling of geometric and material non-linearity, use of sliding contacts etc. (with reference to
geotechnical FEM softwares)
Case study: Analysis of Fort Canning Tunnel, Singapore using ABAQUS
Modelling Spatial Variability, Random Finite Element Analysis
Hands-on session using GeoFEA / Interaction with participants on their specific problems

Professor Fook-Hou Lee is currently an Emeritus Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, National
University of Singapore. He is a Fellow of the Singapore Academy of Engineering.
He is also a Distinguished Visiting Professor at the Civil Engineering Department, IIT Roorkee.
