1.04 SUBMITTALS FOR REVIEW

1.06 QUALIFICATIONS

A. Manufacturer: Company specializing in manufacturing the Products specified in


this section with minimum ten (10) years [documented] experience.

1.07 REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS

A. Conform to requirements of NFPA 70.

B. Provide Products listed and classified by testing firm acceptable to the authority
having jurisdiction as suitable for the purpose specified and indicated.

PART 2 PRODUCTS

2.01 WALL SWITCHES

A. Single Pole Switch: Contractors options meeting specifications.

B. Wall Switches:

1. Shall be flush mounting type unless otherwise indicated on the drawings.

2. Fixing screws should be stainless steel screws, screws heads shall be finished
to suit the plates.

3. Switches shall be rocker operated and the handle should be in the upward
position where it is in the 'on' position.

4. Switches shall have silver alloy contacts.

5. Switches shall make or break the phase wire or phase and neutral wire, as
applicable.
6. 20 or 30 Amps. double pole switches shall be provided with red pilot lights.

2.02 RECEPTACLES

A. Manufacturers: Contractors options meeting specifications.


B. Description: NEMA WD 1, General-duty general use receptacle.

C. Device Body and face plate: White plastic or matching the surroundings.

D. Configuration: NEMA WD 6, type as specified and indicated.

E. Convenience Receptacle: Type:

1. Receptacle shall be 2 pole, 3 wire grounding type, 15 Amp., 20 Amp., or 30


Amp or as indicated on drawings, 3-pole, 3-wire 30, 50 or 60 Amps or as
indicated on drawings.

2. All receptacles shall conform to NEMA non-clocking configuration as to


arrangement of pins and correct polarity.

3. Receptacles shall be molded of rugged arc, track, and char resistant double-
sided contacts.

4. Receptacles in kitchens, and service areas shall be engraved with the voltage
connected to it.

5. Receptacles in damp and wet locations and where indicated weather proof
shall incorporate a face plate and cover constructed from die cast copper free
aluminum with a baked on powder epoxy finish, cover hinge spring of stainless
steel, stainless steel screws, ethylene propyline gasket. The cover should be
self closing type.

G. GFCI Receptacles/GFCI:

1. Ground fault circuit interrupter shall provide protection against low level earth
faults (30 m. amps.).

2. A Push-to-test mechanism shall be provided to ensure proper operation.

H. Ceiling Roses:

1. Ceiling roses shall be designed to meet the requirements for the installation of
flexible pendent cords for lighting. They shall be moulded in a non-track
insulating material.

2. Ceiling rose shall incorporate 2 terminals (one of which properly shrouded)


loop in, grounding and strain. The shrouded terminals shall be used for the
live unswitched wires.
I. Telephone Outlets:

1. Telephone outlets shall be cord grip type and shall consist of terminal blocks
of high insulating phenolic block with non-ferrous screws or taps.

J. Door Call Bell Push Button:

1. Push button shall be double contact type with spring return action.

2. Body shall be made of molded plastic with clear baked acrylic protection.

3. Push button shall have provision of directory of name. Push button shall be
lighted type.

K. Device Body: Ivory or Brown or plastic with depends on wall finish toggle handle.

L. Indicator Light: Separate pilot strap, red colour lens.

M. Locator Light: Lighted handle type switch, red colour handle.

N. Voltage Rating: 220 volts, AC.

O. Current Rating: 15, 20, 30 amperes.

P. Ratings; Match branch circuit and load characteristics.

PART 3 EXECUTION

3.01 EXAMINATION

A. Coordination and Meetings: Verification of existing conditions prior to beginning


work.

B. Verify that outlet boxes are installed at proper height.

C. Verify that wall openings are neatly cut and will be completely covered by wall
plates.

D. Verify that floor boxes are adjusted properly.

E. Verify that branch circuit wiring installation is completed, tested, and ready for
connection to wiring devices.

F. Verify that openings in access floor are in proper locations.


3.02 PREPARATION

A. Provide extension rings to bring outlet boxes flush with finished surface.

B. Clean debris from outlet boxes.

3.03 INSTALLATION

A. Install in accordance with NECA "Standard of Installation."

B. Install devices plumb and level.

C. Install switches with OFF position down.

D. Do not share neutral conductor on load side of dimmers.

E. Install receptacles with grounding pole on bottom.

F. Connect wiring device grounding terminal to branch circuit equipment


grounding conductor.

G. Connect wiring devices by wrapping conductor around screw terminal.

H. Use jumbo size plates for outlets installed in masonry walls.

I. Install galvanized steel plates on outlet boxes and junction boxes in unfinished
areas, above accessible ceilings, and on surface mounted outlets.

3.04 INTERFACE WITH OTHER PRODUCTS

A. Coordinate locations of outlet boxes provided under Section 16130 to obtain


mounting heights [specified and] indicated on drawings.

B. Install wall switch 1.2 m above finished floor.

C. Install convenience receptacle 300 mm above finished floor.

D. Install convenience receptacle 150 mm above backsplash of counter.

E. Install socket outlets 1.2 m above finished floor in the workshop and stables area.

F. Install telephone jack 600 mm above finished floor.


G. Install telephone jack for side-reach wall telephone to position top of telephone at
1.4 m above finished floor.
H. Install telephone jack for forward-reach wall telephone to position top of telephone
at 1.2 m above finished floor.

3.05 FIELD QUALITY CONTROL

A. Section 01400 - Quality Control Section 01650 - Starting of Systems: Field


inspection, testing, adjusting, and balancing.

B. Inspect each wiring device for defects.

C. Operate each wall switch with circuit energized and verify proper operation.

D. Verify that each receptacle device is energized.

E. Test each receptacle device for proper polarity.

F. Test each GFCI receptacle device for proper operation.

G. Verify that each telephone jack is properly connected and circuit is operational.

3.06 ADJUSTING

A. Adjust devices and wall plates to be flush and level.

3.07 CLEANING

A. Section 01700 - Contract Closeout: Cleaning installed work.

B. Clean exposed surfaces to remove splatters and restore finish.
