1. Solve 0.25𝑞 ′′ + 10𝑞 ′ + 1000𝑞 = 0, 𝑞(0) = 𝑞0 , 𝑞′(0) = 0.


(Note: Find the charge 𝑞(𝑡) on the capacitor in an LRC-series circuit when 𝐿 = 0.25

(Note: We can interpret the problem to represent a vibrational system consisting of a

mass (𝑚 = 5 k slug or kilogram) attached to a spring (𝑘 = 2 lb/ft or N/m). The mass

is released from rest 2 unit (foot or meter) below the equilibrium position. The motion

is damped (with damping constant 𝛽 = 1.2) and is being driven by an external periodic
force (5 cos 4𝑡 s) beginning at 𝑡 = 0).

6. Solve (𝐷3 − 1)𝑦 = (𝑒 𝑥 + 1)2 .

10. Solve (𝐷2 − 6𝐷 + 9)𝑦 = 𝑥 2 𝑒 3𝑥 + 2𝑒 3𝑥 .
11. Solve (𝐷2 + 3𝐷 + 2)𝑦 = 𝑒 2𝑥 sin 𝑥 − 2𝑒 2𝑥 .
12. Solve (𝐷2 + 1)𝑦 = 𝑥 2 sin 2𝑥.
13. Solve (𝐷2 − 1)𝑦 = cosh 𝑥 cos 𝑥 + 𝑎 𝑥 .
14. Solve (𝐷2 − 4𝐷 + 4)𝑦 = 8𝑥 2 𝑒 2𝑥 cos 2𝑥.
