SIGN ON LETTER: The US Labor Movement Calls for Ceasefire in Israel and Palestine

https://secure.everyaction.com/w1qW7B3pek2rTtv9ny5bqw2

Example 1 from Oregon Education Association

I move that OEA sign on to the US Labor Movement’s Call for a Ceasefire in Israel and
Palestine, and that OEA immediately contact NEA President Pringle asking that she use her
voice and the NEA resources at her disposal to push President Biden to demand a ceasefire,
and that OEA immediately contact Oregon’s senators and representatives to urge them to also
pressure Biden to call for a ceasefire.

Example 2 from NLC

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, [insert union local here] calls on our state’s Congressional
delegation to support House Resolution 786, introduced by US Rep. Cori Bush, calling for an
immediate de-escalation and ceasefire in Israel and occupied Palestine.

Example 3 from Amarillo Education Association

Amarillo Education Association Resolution of Support for Ceasefire in Palestine
The Amarillo Education Association urges TSTA and NEA leadership to publicly call for a
ceasefire in Israel and occupied Palestine, to endorse the Ceasefire Now Resolution (HR786 by
Rep. Cori Bush), and use NEA action tools to allow members to petition in support of the
resolution.
Whereas, the city of Amarillo, Texas, and Amarillo ISD have become home for thousands of
refugees and displaced people in the last 50 years. And AEA members have served students
who have experienced unimaginable violence as a result of war and conflict;
Whereas, thousands of children continue to be the victims of indiscriminate bombing in Gaza;
Whereas, thousands of civilians have been killed in occupied Palestine and Israeli territory;
Whereas, the proclaimed values and governing documents of the National Education
Association are anti-war and anti-genocide; and
Whereas, the NEA has endorsed President Joe Biden for reelection as an ally to our union, and
Biden has refused to call for a ceasefire and has sent further arms into the region to be used by
occupation forces against civilians in Palestine;
Therefore, be it resolved, that TSTA and NEA leadership shall call emergency meetings of their
governing bodies and take such actions that allow TSTA and the NEA to publicly support calls
for Ceasefire; demand that President Joe Biden support a lasting ceasefire, humanitarian aid in
occupied Palestine, and protection of Palestinian natural resources for the use and betterment
of
Palestinian people; and create action tools that allow members to support ceasefire, including
specifically HR786 Ceasefire Now Resolution filed by Rep. Cori Bush.
Approved November 11, 2023, by the Executive Board of the Amarillo Education Association,
local affiliate of TSTA and NEA, with petition of support from the following AEA members:
