I. Software Delivery
Software Distribution is an important tool for updating your ATM Fleet with the
newest Software Updates, Security Patches and supporting marketing campaigns,
delivering promotion screens or seasonal greetings.

The first step is to create an Installation Package which contains the content to
deliver.
The second step is to create a Task to schedule the download and installation of the
Package.

1. SD Mainview

SDM Mainview gives us an at-a-glance dashboard of Network Status, Delivery Status


and our top Schedule Failures so we can easily track status of our delivery tasks.
Below is also our Delivery History. We can apply filters here and verify any deliveries
made and the parameters related to them.

2. Installation Packages

1. Go to Software Distribution  Installation Packages.

2. Click on Add New.

3. Give a Package Name & Description for the new Installation Package.

4. Select OOS, if ATM should be brought Out of Service, before starting the
installation.

5. Select Reboot, if ATM should be rebooted after finishing the installation.

6. Select Vendor and Model. Only for ATMs among this selection, the package will be
available.

7. Choose Package Type.

 Administrator Action ( and Update TMS Agent):
This function creates a manual package. User can create Pre-/Post- Action with any
Windows Command Line.
Select Administrator Action for packages related to Windows Security
Updates.

Example for Windows security update:


 Pre-Action: input following command to create new folder md
C:\WindowsUpdatePackage
 Post-Action: input following command to run Window update file -> see below
example:
 C:\WindowsUpdatePackage\ndp45-kb3097996-x86.exe /q /log C:\result.txt
 Green: full path of Window update file.
 Yellow: full path of file that will save result after installing.

 User needs an understanding of Windows Command Line to edit Pre-


Scripts and Post scripts.

 User should have an understanding of ATM folder structures and
Application Folders in ATMs.

 Transaction Screens & Idle Screen Installation:


Choose Resolution according to the size of the image. If the resolution is different,
the Portal will give a warning.

8. Install Folder.

Folder path where files will be stored (example: C:\WindowsUpdatePackage).

Administrator action and Update TMS Agent  Type the installation path.

Transaction Screens and Idle Images  Select the path based on settings
related to System Settings  Media Path Management.

9. Select Multiple Files or upload a Zip File.

10. Set the expiration time.

If the new file should expire and be replaced by previous, click on to set the
expiration date.

 Set the path of the backup from the original file (in the current Version, a manual
backup of current File needs to be made).

3. Task List
After creating an Installation Package, it can be delivered and installed to ATMs. For
this a scheduled task it needs to be generated.
1. Go to Software Distribution  Task List.

2. Click on Add New.

3. Choose a Task Name and set the date and time for the schedule.

4. Select the previously created Package from the drop down menu.

5. Select Task Type.

Download  Only deliver the Package to ATMs, without installation.


Immediate Install  Installation of already delivered Packages to ATMs (select
previous downloaded Package)
Download – Install  Deliver Package and immediately installation

ATTENTION: For Windows Security Patches Download-Install is not allowed.


Patches need to be downloaded and installed in separate steps.

6. Click on Add/Delete ATM to select ATMs for the schedule then click Close.

ATTENTION: Only ATMs, according to the previous setting in Installation


Packages (Vendor & Model) can be selected in this step.

4. Software Distribution History
This function shows the status of tasks, time of downloading and installing.

Click on one line to see a detailed explanation about the error and transfer status.

5. Software Distribution Report
Select From – To Time and Branch to filter for the Distribution Report. The report will
provide the rate of successful and failed deliveries for each Task Type.

6. Monitor Expired Files

This section will allow you to filter and view any files that have already expired. The
use case of this is that some media may be installed with a time limit for its use, for
example if you have a holiday season that lasts for four days then the media
uploaded for this season can have the correct expiry date set and then when that
date is reached the media will revert back to the previously installed version. Here
you can verify that process has happened.
