Narrator : The story of Romeo and Juliet begins in the town of Verona, Italy where there lived two
powerful families who were sworn enemies.
[Music]
Narrator: Families who would not think twice before drawing their sword these were the Montagues
and the Capulets.
[Music]
Prince Escalus: Enough you threaten the peace of my town and disrupt civilian lives!
:Another misunderstanding I hear or another brawl from the Montagues or the Capulets the culprits
shall be put in prison for life.
[Music]
Prince Esclaus: Alberto I worry about the hatred between these families, I wonder what their youngest
generation make of this rivalry, don't the Montagues have a son, Alberto?
Benvolio: Romeo , Romeo. There you are, I've been looking for you since morning
Benvolio: Well of course it is. That's usually how long mornings are, and I guess sad hours seem long and
sad, and by the way, what makes you sad?
Romeo: Rosaline, but she doesn't love me. She is vowed to marry another and it's not her fault, you
cannot force someone to fall in love with you, Benvolio.
Benvolio : If Rosaline doesn't understand your love then she is at a loss, my brother.
Friar Lawrence: Lord I pray for the peace of Verona. The montague's and capulets rivalry has swallowed
this entire town, help them to see beyond their hatred.
Friar Lawrence: Come on! The day is young just like you both. Go on! Time heals all wounds only if you
let it. Learn to move with time.
Lord Capulet: Wealth, repute, stature, family history and standing… us Capulet’s have it all! And I vow to
protect it always.
[Music]
:Peter, here is the list of all the invites for the ball today. Hand it over to someone. I want special
invitations gone to each one of them.
Mercutio: Hello boys! a beautiful day isn't it? Still thinking about Rosaline aren't you?
: If it makes you so sad… then ask yourself, “Is it really love then?”,

Stranger: Sir! Sir! Oh, I have found myself in a fix! Can you read this, Sir?
[Music]
: If you are not one of the Montague’s, you are invited as well.
Benvolio: Easy for you to say, you are not a Montague! I am not stepping in that house.
[Music]
Mercutio: But we must go, for Romeo. So he relishes in the fact that we crash the Capulet’s party!
Benvolio: Alright! I'm in! And you are not allowed to say no!
Romeo: Fine. But we return soon and we don't fight anyone there.
Mercutio: Wonderful!
[Music]
Lord Capulet: Noblemen and women of Verona, welcome to our humble ball. Let the dancing begin.
Benvolio: Romeo, go find yourself a dance partner. You need it. We will help ourselves with some wine.
: Come, Mercutio .
Lord Capulet: Count Paris, I'd like you to meet my daughter, Juliet.
Count Paris: Aren't you the most beautiful lady in Verona! May I have the pleasure of a dance?
Count Paris: I leave Verona soon, but I do plan to get married before that. What about you?
Romeo: My heart has either stopped beating or has forgotten how to beat.
[Music]
Romeo: No mortal can endure such beauty and stay alive. May I have the pleasure?
Romeo: I'm a yearning pilgrim and you are my holy shrine. Kissing you will purge me of my sins.
[Music]
Romeo: Juliet! Beautiful name! But why is Lady Capulet calling her?
[Music]
(Tybalt rushes to catch Romeo)|(While Benvolio and Mercutio having a wine sit-out, notices Tybalt
running to Romeo)
Mercutio: You removed your mask! And now we're in trouble! Come, let's leave!
Romeo: But-
Juliet: Maid! Find out who that man is, the one I was dancing with.
Juliet: If he is already married to someone, I might as well die. Why is my heart yearning to run to him?
Is this what they call true love?
Maid of Juliet: Madam, Tybalt told me who that uncultured boy was. His name is Romeo and he is a
Montague!
Romeo and Juliet
Arranged by: The Crew and Cast team of 9-Yakal
Juliet: No! My only love sprung from my only hate! It's too late now. I can't feel my heartbeat. How will
I? My heart just left this house.
Mercutio: Why were you dancing with the Capulet girl? you'd have got us killed today!
Romeo: I'm a dead man, already! I now know what true love is!
[Music]
Mercutio: He is a madman; a lover. I think he knows what he's doing. Let us go!
[Music]|[Romeo runs and climbs over the wall hides over a tree and sees Juliet]
Juliet: Oh Romeo! My heart aches! You're a Montague? What's in a name? That which we call a rose by
any other name would smell as sweet. But what if you think different? You don't know I'm a Capulet. But
I don't care anymore, oh Romeo! Just once accept my love and I will stop being a Capulet. I will be
anything you want. Why did you leave? We kissed and yearned for more!
Juliet: What are you doing here? How did you get here? They will kill you!
Romeo: After listening to my life confessing her love to me, does it really matter if I live or die?
Juliet: Don't you want to live? Please leave! They will see you!
Romeo: I have night's cloak to hide me from their sight. And let them find me here for my life is better
ended by their hate than live every moment wanting your love.
Juliet: Your true, beautiful self! Say you love me, Romeo, and I will believe. I will choose to believe every
word you say knowing well that our families are sworn enemies. For I have never felt the calm I feel
when I saw you. This is it. Romeo. This is where my dreams celebrate me being alive. I believe you.
Maid: Madam?
Romeo: I won't leave without that what I came for. Your vow of love!
Romeo: Stay but a little, Juliet, for i am afraid, it is night and this is all a dream. I don't want to lose your
love. I can't.
Juliet: If your love for me is honorable, propose marriage, and I will forever be yours. Propose when and
where you will perform the rite, and then and there I shall be.
[Music]|[Romeo enters Friar Lawrence’s Compound and talks about how to get married to Juliet]
Friar Lawrence: What? You want to get married? Today? To the only child of Lord Capulet?
Romeo: Right.
Friar Lawrence: Is this a game to you? You know the risk you're taking?
Romeo: What is love without its perils. I don't expect you or anyone else to understand. All I know is
that if you don't get us married, I will find another way to make her mine. Either way, we will be
together.
Narrator: That afternoon, the love of Romeo and Juliet was secretly celebrated. They were now husband
and wife. But that same heavenly afternoon, destiny was about to change its course.
Benvolio: Mercutio! Look at this! Tybalt has sent a scroll for Romeo.
Mercutio: He challenges Romeo to a duel. But Romeo is a lover, not a fighter. You know they call Tybalt
the prince of cats? One strike is enough to kill.
[Tybalt enters the scene with a horse heading to Mercutio and Benvolio]
Tybalt: Romeo! Come out! You didn't think you'd sink into our house and the Capulets wouldn’t know?
Mercutio: Of course not! The only thing that the Capulets pass by is their nephew and maybe their
dignity!
Mercutio: Why? Afraid you would fail? Come on, Tybalt. Let's go. Man to man.
[Music]|[The two both draw their swords and begins the fight]
[Romeo enters the fighting scene with a horse]
Romeo: Stop fighting! Remember what the Prince said. You both will be imprisoned for life! Stop!
Romeo: No!
[Music]
Mercutio: Listen to me. Be different than them. Don't let hate take over…(groans). Good-bye… my
friend.
Romeo: No. No! (cries). (Picks up Mercutio’s sword). Benvolio. Stay with him. (Benvolio cries)
[Music]|[Tybalt and Romeo jumps out on both of their horses with a sword]|
[Both runs and Tybalt tries to attack Romeo]| [Romeo dodges and stabs Tybalt on his back 2 times]
Tybalt: Arghh!
Benvolio: Romeo! What have you done! They will put you in prison!
Benvolio: Tybalt came looking for Romeo, blood in his eyes. There he got into a fight with Mercutio.
When Romeo came, he tried to stop them, but Tybalt drew his sword and killed Mercutio. Mercutio was
Romeo's best friend. He couldn't take it and went after Tybalt. The two fought and Tybalt was killed.
Prince Escalus: Tybalt killed Mercutio, and Romeo killed Tybalt. Hmm…
[Music]
Prince Escalus: Not another word! Romeo must leave immediately and if he is seen in Verona, that will
be the end of him.
Romeo and Juliet
Arranged by: The Crew and Cast team of 9-Yakal
Romeo: What have I done? I brought tears to her eyes! I hurt my love!
Maid: Your wife is grateful that her Romeo lives! (cries) and you want to take that away from her? How
will she live?
Friar Lawrence: Romeo! Think straight! Tomorrow morning, leave for Mantua. I will arrange your stay.
You will get everything you need. I will send you letters about Juliet and Verona. Things will be fine, my
boy.
Juliet: It's not morning yet, my husband! It's night. Go to sleep again.
Romeo: No my love. It is morning and I must either leave and live, or stay and die. And you know what? I
won't leave. Even if death comes to take me away I will stay. My Juliet wishes so.
[Music]|[Romeo and Juliet walks out of the room together and heads at the balcony]
Romeo: I don't doubt it. I will have to see you or else my breath will run out! Farewell, my love!
Romeo: It's only your love that makes you think so. Promise me that you will not let sadness get you. I
will think of you every day in Mantua.
Romeo: I will send you a message every second I can! Now when we meet, we will never be apart again.
Lord Capulet: Paris! I have good news! I have decided to get you and Juliet married this Thursday.
Count Paris: I love Juliet! I have waited for so long. But does she want to marry me?
Lord Capulet: I don't have to ask her for her consent. And this is the best way to take her out of the
Tybalt’s death!
Count Paris: If that's the case, then I wish Thursday were tomorrow!
Lord Capulet: At every dinner, every gathering, every day, every night, I have one and only thought to
get a good match for you. And now when I find a Count, this is how you repay me? I have had enough!
You listen to me, daughter. (Juliet cries) You marry him on Thursday, and if you dare to reject the Count
then I will disown you. You will be dead to me!
Juliet: No! Father! Please!(Lord Capulet leaves) Mother! Mother please!(Mother of Juliet leaves) Nurse,
what do I do? I already have a husband! I can't live with anyone else! I want to go to him. I want Romeo
back!
Maid: But he is banished. What use is a husband when he can't stay near his wife! You should marry the
Count!
Juliet: Very well. Go tell father that I feel guilty to have disobeyed him. I will confess to the Friar today.
Maid: My child! I knew you would do the right thing. (hugs Juliet)
Juliet: Do you? Does anybody understand? My love is banished. And now I am forced to marry another
man. My heart wants to leave my body. It refuses to beat without Romeo. If you don't help me I will
surely die. I promise you. Death would be better than a life without my love.
Friar Lawrence: You give me no other option. You and Romeo are dear to me. I cannot see my children
in pain! There is a way. But it involves a lot of risk. I will give you a poison extracted from a very rare
flower. It will stop your pulse for a day. Thinking you dead, your family will bury you in the Capulet's
tomb. I will send a letter to Romeo. If everything goes as per my plan, you will wake up to see your
Romeo. You both can start your own life! But if your Romeo doesn't reach in time, you will find yourself
among the dead.
Friar Lawrence: Day after tomorrow is your wedding day. I will send Friar John to take my message to
Romeo today. It is a long journey. Tomorrow night, send your Nurse away and drink this. (Friar Lawrence
handed over the poison to Juliet) It will take effect immediately. (hugs Juliet) Farewell, my child. May
God be with you.
Lord Capulet: Oh! My daughter! I'm so proud of you! (hugs Juliet) You make me happy!
Maid: Juliet! What makes you sleep so much on your wedding day! Come on, child, wake up! Juliet.
Juliet? Madam? My child, (checks her pulse) why isn't there a pulse! No! No! No! My child!!! ( cries )
No…!
[Music]|[The family of Capulet’s, coffin bringers and Count Paris put Juliet in the Capulet’s coffin,
walking to the Capulet’s tomb at the streets]|[Benvolio notices the coffin]
[Romeo enters the scene]
Romeo and Juliet
Arranged by: The Crew and Cast team of 9-Yakal
Romeo: Benvolio! What news do you bring? How is my lady? As beautiful as ever, of course! Benvolio.
Why aren't you answering?
Benvolio: What do I say? As beautiful as ever. The heavens were always jealous. They took her back.
Your Juliet is dead.
Benvolio: I wish it were! I wish with all my heart and soul that it were. I saw her body with my own eyes.
Romeo: No. No! My soul betrayed me. Her heart stops mine still beats? No!
Benvolio: Romeo…
[Music]|[Romeo went to a shop that sells poisons and also purchased one of the potions]
Friar John: I'm sorry, I fell ill on the way and could not deliver the letter to Romeo in time.
[Romeo heads to the Capulet’s tomb and Count Paris sees Romeo]
Romeo: Does that name still matter? I'm a dead man. Going to see my love.
Count Paris: You are not going anywhere. How dare you step near a Capulet tomb!
Romeo: I am not here to harm you. I'm only here to kill myself.
Count Paris’ assistant: Oh! They're fighting! I better go call for help! (runs away)
Romeo and Juliet
Arranged by: The Crew and Cast team of 9-Yakal
[Music]|[Romeo also draws his sword continues the fight and stabs Count Paris]
Romeo: Rest in peace, my friend. The person who killed you will not live for long.
Romeo: My love! My life! How are you still so beautiful? Death took you away but it could not take your
beauty. Let me take your last embrace in this world. (cries)
[Proceeds to kiss Juliet in the forehead]|[Later grabs the poison in his hands]
Romeo: I am joining my love in eternity. Has anyone ever been as happy as I am before they die? (cries)
Remember what I said? The next time we meet, we will never be apart. This is the most divine poison on
earth, for it will reunite us.
Romeo: Is it already heaven? I should have drunk the poison hours back.
Juliet: No! Romeo! No! (grabs the used poison of Romeo) My Romeo. (shakes the poison) Not a single
drop for me to follow after? But sure it still lingers in your lips! Wait for me my love! I am coming to you
with this last earthly kiss.
Prince Escalus: Today's mornings bring an unusual peace to Verona one that is wrapped in sadness, for
two souls have humbled the entire town with the purity and innocence of their love. Tonight, the moon
will be ashamed to show its face. Tonight the stars won't twinkle (audience crying). No more will we
have such sad denouement, for never was a love story of more woe than this of Romeo and Juliet… and
never there ever will be.
The End
