Arduino Self

This document describes an Arduino self-driving car with firefighting capabilities created by 4 group members. The car uses sensors like ultrasonic, flame, and smoke detectors along with components like an Arduino UNO, motor driver, water pump, and GSM module. It can autonomously detect and avoid obstacles, detect fires, and extinguish them either automatically or through remote control. Potential applications include firefighting, search and rescue, security, and education. The total cost of components for the project is approximately 6,010 rupees plus the cost of batteries.

“Arduino Self-driving car with firefighting mechanism”

Group Members:
1. Prasan Mangrati
2. Satyam Mangrati
3. Soyam Tamrakar
4. Yuhisha Maharjan

Components Used:
Arduino UNO: The central microcontroller
that controls the entire system. It
processes data from various sensors and
sends commands to motors and
actuators.

Flame Sensor: Detects the presence of

flames or smoke. It's essential for
identifying fires.

MQ2 Sensor: Detects the presence of smoke

SIM800L: A GSM module that allows remote

communication. It can be used to send alerts
or receive instructions remotely.
Ultrasonic Sensor: Measures distances by
emitting and receiving ultrasonic waves. In this
project, it helps the car detect obstacles and
avoid collisions.

L293 Motor Driver: Controls the motors' speed

and direction. It's crucial for the movement of
the car.

Relay Module: Used to control high-power

devices like the water pump or other actuators.

LM2596 Buck Converter: Regulates voltage for various

components, ensuring they receive the appropriate power
supply.

Servo Motor: Used for steering or controlling

the fire-fighting mechanism. It can aim the
water pump in different directions.

Mini Water Pump: The firefighting component. It

sprays water to extinguish fires.
Wheels and Motors: The car's propulsion system.
Motors drive the wheels to move the car.

Breadboard: Provides a platform for

prototyping and connecting the various
components.

Batteries: Supply power to the entire system.

Working Mechanism:
Obstacle Avoidance: The Ultrasonic Sensor mounted on the front of
the car emits ultrasonic waves. It measures the time it takes for the
waves to bounce back after hitting an obstacle. If an obstacle is
detected within a certain range, the Arduino calculates the distance
and sends commands to the motors via the L293 Motor Driver to
change direction and avoid the obstacle.

Fire Detection: The Flame Sensor (MQ2 Sensor) continuously

monitors the environment for flames or smoke. If a fire is detected, it
triggers an alert or activates the firefighting mechanism. Then using
(SIM800L) it sends a call and SMS alert to the specific phone number
Firefighting Mechanism: When a fire is detected, the Arduino sends a
signal to the Servo Motor, which adjusts the angle of the water pump
nozzle. Then, the Relay Module activates the Mini Water Pump,
spraying water to extinguish the fire.
Remote Communication: The SIM800L GSM module enables remote
communication. It can send alerts or receive instructions via text
messages or calls, allowing for remote control and monitoring of the
car.

Power Management: The LM2596 Buck Converter regulates voltage

to ensure that all components receive the correct power supply,
preventing damage or malfunction.

Movement: The Arduino controls the movement of the car's wheels

through the L293 Motor Driver. It can make the car move forward,
backward, left, or right based on the input received from the
Ultrasonic Sensor and remote commands.

Applications of this Project:

Firefighting: The primary application is in firefighting, where the car
can autonomously detect and extinguish fires in hazardous
environments.

Search and Rescue: This self-driving car can be used in search and
rescue operations, navigating through debris and obstacles to locate
and assist individuals in need.

Security: The flame sensor can be employed for fire detection in

security systems, providing an additional layer of safety.

Education: This project is an excellent educational tool to teach

robotics, automation, and sensor integration to students interested
in STEM fields.
