PRACTICAL ACTIVITY WORKSHEET
ACADEMIC YEAR 2022/2023
Subject : PHYSICS Grade: 7 Date/Day:

NAME :
1. _________________________________________ 3. _________________________________________

2. _________________________________________ 4. _________________________________________

CLASS :
DENSITY OF LIQUID AND SOLID
Objective :
1. To investigate the density of liquids
2. To investigate the density of solids

Apparatus and Materials:

1. Volumetric cylinder 5. 3 liquids:
2. Beaker glass a. ____________________
3. Digital scale b. ____________________
4. Water c. ____________________
6. 3 solids:
a. ____________________
b. ____________________
c. ____________________
Procedure:
A. Liquids’ Density
1. Measure the mass of the empty beaker glass using digital scale
2. Write down the result in the observation table
3. Fill the beaker glass with liquid 1, and then weigh it.
4. Write down the result in the observation table
5. Measure the volume of liquid 1 by draining the liquid 1 from beaker glass and pouring it into the volumetric cylinder.
Observe the scale on the volumetric cylinder.
6. Write down the result in the observation table
7. Count the liquid 1 mass per unit volume.
8. Repeat the same treatment to liquid 2 and liquid 3.

B. Solids’ Density
1. Weigh the object (solid 1) on a scale and record its mass in grams.
2. Fill the graduated cylinder or beaker with a measured amount of water.
3. Record the initial water volume in milliliters (mL).
4. Carefully drop the object into the water and record the new volume of water in the cylinder or beaker in mL.
5. Calculate the difference between the initial and final volumes of water, which gives you the volume of the object in
mL.
6. Convert the volume of the object to cubic centimeters (cc) by dividing by 1 mL/cc.
7. Calculate the density of the object by dividing its mass by its volume in cc.
Density (g/cc) = Mass (g) / Volume (cc)
8. Repeat the same treatment to object 2 and object 3.

Note: Be sure to choose a container large enough to accommodate the object without spilling over the top, and to use a
container and object that are both clean and dry.
