7E’S LESSON PLAN IN SCIENCE 7

I. LEARNING OBJECTIVES

At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to;

a. identify the planets of the solar system;

b. arrange the planets orderly; and
c. demonstrate proper attitude when working with group.

II. SUBJECT MATTER

a. Topic: The Sun and the Different Planets in the Solar System
b. References: Science Textbook, Internet
c. Instructional Materials: Visual aids, Pictures
d. Values Integration: Patient, Appreciation, Analytic

III. PROCEDURE
A. Preliminary Activities
 Prayer
 Greetings
 Checking of Attendance
 Setting of Classroom Rules
 Review (ask question about previous lesson)

i. ELICIT (Access prior knowledge)

 Let us first have a review of some concepts.

1. Who can differentiate rotation and revolution?

2. How about the earth’s revolution? How long will it take to
complete one revolution?

ii. ENGAGE (Get the student’s mind focused on the topic)

 Now, I need 9 pupils to come here in front and arranged
these jumbled words.

1. ERMCRUY – MERCURY
2. SUVNE – VENUS
3. THERA – EARTH
4. RMSA – MARS
5. JTEPRUI – JUPITER
6. RTUNAS – SATURN
7. AUURNS – URANUS
8. NEUPTEN – NEPTUNE
9. UNS – SUN

 Place it on the space provided in the board.

 PRESENT TODAY’S LESSON

 (The Sun and the Different Planets in the Solar System)

iii. EXPLORE (Provide a students with a common experience)

 The teacher will group the students into 3 groups and each
group is provided with the materials needed for the activity.
 Each group will have a different task (Draw Lots)
 Instructions:

1. Group 1: Arrange and identify the planets in the Solar

System from largest to smallest.
2. Group 2: Arrange and identify the planets in the Solar
System from smallest to largest.
3. Group 3: Arrange and identify the planets in the Solar
System from farthest to nearest.
Rubrics:

 Promptness – 5 pts
 Behavior – 5 pts
 Cooperation – 10 pts
 Creativity – 10 pts
 Correctness – 20 pts
 TOTAL – 50 PTS
iv. EXPLAIN (Teach the concept. This should include interaction
between the teacher and the students).

 Ask essential questions.

1. What is Solar system?

2. What are the relationship of Sun and the solar system?
3. What are the planets in the solar system?
4. How many planets do we have?
5. What planet do we belong?

v. ELABORATE (Students apply the information)

 Teacher wraps up the discussion about Solar system by

showing a presentation and asking the following questions:

1. What is Solar system?

2. What is the center of our solar system?
3. What are the planets in the solar system?

vi. EVALUATION (How will you know the students have learned the
concept?)

 The teacher will distribute the test questionnaire.

Direction: Encircle the letter of the correct answer.
