The chapter describes the research methodology used in the study. A quantitative descriptive research design will be employed to examine the relationship between students' home environments and study habits. The population will consist of 164 Grade 12 ABM students from NEHS Senior High. A purposive sampling technique will be used to collect data through questionnaires from the selected respondents. The questionnaires will be based on a modified version of the Student Study Habits survey to gather data on comfortability, motivation, and grades. Statistical analysis including mean, median, and mode will then be used to analyze the data.

CHAPTER 2
RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODOLOGY
The methodology describes the population, sample, and instrument
used in data collection, referring to procedures, techniques, or projects used across an industry or scientific discipline, or the study of these methods.
Research Method and Technique Used
The researcher will utilize a descriptive research
design and a quantitative approach to quantify the relationship between students' home environments and study habits. This approach is employed when the researcher wants to delve into or explore an area where there is little information regarding the research problem. It will be used to collect data about the effects of the home environment. The survey method will also be used to gather, examine, and synthesize data on the relationship between students' living environment and study habits. In order to gather quantifiable data for statistical analysis of the population sample, the descriptive quantitative research design—a quantitative research method—is used.
Population and Sample
This study will be held on the public school, NEHS
Senior High in the year 2023-2024. The respondents of the study are 100% of the students here in NEHS Senior High ABM, the subjects or the main respondents of the study. Number of Grade 12 – ABM Students NEHS Male Female Total Senior High ABM - 12 N % N % N % 59 35.98% 105 64.02 164 100%
Sampling Design and Procedures
The researchers will use purposive sampling technique
to get data from specific respondents from NEHS Senior High School. The respondents are the grade 12 ABM students from the said school.
Informant selection is highly relevant for
ethnobotanical research, as people are constantly looked upon for knowledge and information. The purposive sampling technique is a type of non-probability sampling that is most effective when one needs to study a certain cultural domain with knowledgeable experts within. Purposive sampling may also be used with both qualitative and quantitative research techniques.
Data Gathering Procedures
This section will discuss the instrument that will be
used in gathering the needed data for the study. Firstly, the researchers will draft a questionnaire and then be validated by the experts in this field. The researchers secured an approved letter to conduct the study from the office of the principal of NEHS-SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL. Upon approval, the researchers will conduct a survey of the respondents by giving them a questionnaire, which they will be required to answer succinctly. Data will be gathered and organized once all questionnaires have been returned. The results of the study will be identified as proofs of this research study.
Instruments Used
The researcher will use their Modified Standardized
Survey questionnaires, Student Study Habits by Texas A&M University. The contents of the questionnaire will ask students of NEHS Senior High ABM 12 on subjects such as comfortability, motivation and their grades. The Student Study Habit survey design will help the researches gather data on each of their domain, and each of the domains will consist of 5 questions each.
Validation
The main instrument used in this study is the
modified version of the Student Study Habit by Texas A&M University. Therefore, the researches will need to go to professionals to check their survey design and sign them.
After receiving the approval, the researches may
continue on their plan/objectives in gathering data.
Data Processing and Statistical Treatment of Data
The formula is used to analyze then interpret the
computed data to find the average set of data. The formula is a medium to find the average set of data in the Modified Standardized Survey Design, Student’s Study Habits.
Mean (Average):
Measures of central tendency are statistics that describe the
center or average of a set of data.
Formula:
Mean(xˉ)=n∑i=1nxi
Where:
}xˉ represents the mean
xi represents each individual value in the dataset.
nn is the total number of values in the dataset.
Median:
The median is the middle value in a sorted dataset. If there is
an even number of values, the median is the average of the two middle values.
Formula (for an odd number of values):
Median=Middle Value Formula (for an even number of values):
Median=2Value at 2n+Value at 2+1n devided by 2
Mode: The mode is the value that appears most frequently in the dataset. There can be multiple modes or no mode at all if all values occur with the same frequency.
Formula:
Simply identify the value with the highest frequency.
