SEAGULL

PATTERN
Tools and Materials:
Yarn (We use RAINBOW yarn 100% cotton - 8/4)
White
Dark yellow
Light grey
Dark grey
Black
Hook number 2.5
Fiberfill for stuffing
Scissors and sewing needle
Stitch markers
Sewing needle

Abbreviations:
ch - chain
mr - magic ring
sc - single crochet in US (double crochet in UK)
dc - double crochet (treble crochet in UK)
inc - increase (2 single crochet in one stitch)
dec - decrease (2 stitches together)
slst - slip stitch
hdc - half double crochet (half treble crochet in UK)
tr - treble crochet (double treble crochet in UK)

Size:
The finished toy is about 13cm (5.1 inches)
tall and 12 cm (4.7 inches) long from beak
to tail feathers.
Head and body
Use white color yarn.

2. inc x 6 (12)
3. '1sc, inc' x 6 (18)

body and the head.

Fasten off, weave in the ends.


Use the whole from the skipped stitches on
R22 to fill the head and the body of the
seagull. Use a white string and sew the hole.

Beak
Use dark yellow color yarn.

1. 4sc in mr (4)
2. sc around (4)
3. '1sc, inc' x 2 (6)
4. '1sc, inc' x 3 (9)
5. sc around (9)
6. '2sc, inc' x 3 (12)

Fasten off, leaving long tail for sewing.


Wings
Start with light grey color yarn.

1. 6sc in mr (6)
2. inc x 6 (12)
3. '1sc, inc' x 6 (18)
4. 5sc, change to dark grey, dc and tr in the next sc, 2tr in the next sc, in the
next sc: 'tr, ch3, slst into the 1st chain, tr', dc and hdc in the next sc, 1sc,
change to light grey, 9sc

Fasten off, leaving long tail for sewing.

To make the 2nd wing, follow the instructions from R1 to R3, and use the
following for the last row:

4. 5sc, change to dark grey, 1sc, hdc and dc in the next sc, in the next sc: tr
ch3, slst into the 1st chain, tr', 2tr in the next sc, dc, change to light grey, 9sc

Fasten off, leaving long tail for sewing.

'Hair'
Use white color yarn to make the head feathers
(hair) of the seagull.

1. ch4, starting from the 2nd chain from the


hook, 3slst, ch5, starting from the 2nd chain
from the hook, 4slst, starting from the 2nd
chain from the hook, 3slst

Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.


Tail
Tail option 1:
Use dark grey color yarn. Make 5.

1. ch7, starting from the 2nd chain from the hook, 6sc

Fasten off, leaving long tail for sewing.

Tail option 2:
Use dark grey color yarn.

1. ch7, starting from the 2nd chain from the hook, 6sc, ch7, starting from the
2nd chain from the hook, 6sc

Fasten off, leaving long tail for sewing.

Legs
Use dark yellow color yarn.
Legs x 2.

1. 6sc in mr (6)

Fasten off, leaveing a long tail for sewing.

Back toes x 2

1. 5sc in mr (5)
2. - 4. sc around (5)

Fasten off, leaveing a long tail for sewing.

Front toes x 6

1. 4sc in mr (4)
2. - 3. sc around (4)

Fasten off, leaveing a long tail for sewing.

Sew the 3 front toes between R1 and R2, as close to each other as possible.
Sew the back toe on the other side, between R1 and R2 as well.
Assembly:
Sew the 'hair' on top of the head, on R33.
Sew the beak between R26 and R23, make sure it is centered.
Embroider eyes, using black color yarn, between R27 and R29, 2rows in hingt.
2sc left/right from the beak.
Sew the tail feathers on the tail.
Sew the wings between R9 adn R16 on both sides of the body.
Sew the legs between R2 and R4, in the center of the body (around the mr). If
you place them nicely, the seagull will be able to stay up.
