Week of October 17, 2011

The Williams School works with each child to build an enduring foundation for academic, moral, and social success. Williams School students embody integrity, confidence, discipline, and a love of learning.
Honor before Honors

Dear Williams School Families, A great part of what makes Williams better is the dedication of the teachers and staff to participate in professional development experiences that benefit our students. Blair Ellson and Amy Lindgren attended a conference entitled Bad Things Happen to Good People Even Kids over the summer. This past week Cherie Geiger and P.J. Brandt attended an anti-bullying workshop. Not that we have an over abundance of bullies here at The Williams School, we do realize that part of our job is to educate our students on how to deal with a bully situation. Attending conferences and workshops like these help us enhance our program and further the social education of our students. Liza Needham forwarded me an article called Bully-proofing Your Kids that I thought might be of interest to parents. There is also a special on CNN tonight at 8:00 and 10:00 p.m. Andersons town hall Bullying: It Stops Here. Although the incidence of bullying is low here at Williams, we do understand that our students will leave Williams and encounter more complex social situations. Therefore, it is important for us to encourage courageous behavior and help our students develop a positive sense of self. We are thankful for our partnership with parents as together we educate the whole child. Have a great weekend, Melanie
