Getting Started with Swahili

For Absolute Beginners

This PDF Cheat Sheet is meant for Absolute Beginners who know zero
Swahili. This guide will put you on the right track… plus teach you a bit
of Swahili along the way!

Hello! (Jambo!)

Have you tried to learn Swahili in the past, only to become discouraged?

We’ve seen that happen too many times. That’s why we designed SwahiliPod101 to break down lessons
into the smallest, simplest steps possible. So, that you can finally grasp the language and start speaking,
no matter your age, background or language experience.

Keep reading. You’ll see how SwahiliPod101 gets you speaking Swahili in just minutes…

… and you’ll discover some FREE tools and resources down below.

But, speaking of Swahili… Swahili in Swahili is Kiswahili. Kiswahili is a good word (neno) to know since
you know… you are now learning it.

So, how do you get started with Kiswahili?

At SwahiliPod101, we get you speaking and understanding Swahili with bite-sized conversational lessons.

In fact, you have a ready-made pathway of lessons waiting for you on the SwahiliPod101 dashboard (your
homebase). Just click on “Go to lesson.”
How to learn: All you have to do is… press play on a lesson and sit back.

First, you’ll listen to a practical dialogue between native Swahili speakers.

Then, our teachers will slow it down and explain all of the words, grammar rules and cultural nuances
presented.

In minutes, you’ll understand the entire conversation and all the words and grammar rules inside.

And, you’ll start speaking Swahili that you’ve heard. So, if you heard a dialogue about catching up with a
friend, you will be able to do just that in Swahili.

So, you will..

… listen (kusikiliza)
… understand (kuelewa)
…and speak (kuongea) real Swahili.

And you can also read (kusoma) along and never miss a word with the Line-by-Line Dialogue and FREE
Lesson Transcripts inside each lesson.

When you’re done with lesson #1, we’ll guide you to lesson #2, then #3, and so on.

Learning is as simple as that.

Recap & To do now:

• Access the lesson on the dashboard

By the way, Ninafuraha kukutana nawe!

That means nice to meet you!

Now, since we have you (wewe) here… we want to know:

• What’s your name?

• Jina lako nani?

To reply to that and introduce yourself, you (wewe) would say…

• I’m (name).
• Mimi ni ...

Oh, “mimi” is a new word (woord).

“mimi” is how you say “I” in Kiswahili.

So, just stick your name in there.

By the way, in case you didn’t notice…

Now you know a whole bunch of neno and phrases.

1. Jambo - Hello
2. Kiswahili - Swahili
3. kusikiliza - To listen
4. kuongea - To speak
5. kuelewa - To understand
6. kusoma - To read
7. Ninafuraha kukutana nawe. - Nice to meet you
8. wewe - You
9. mimi - I/me/myself
10. neno - word
11. Jina lako nani? - What’s your name?
12. Mimi ni ... - I am (name).

Not bad for a quick 2-3 minute read, right?

But, as great as reading about Swahili is… you’ll learn Swahili FASTER by listening to REAL Swahili
speakers and real conversations inside our SwahiliPod101 lessons.
You’ll be speaking Swahili in just minutes… because our lessons are just 3-15 minutes long.

So, if you haven’t already done so… go ahead and start speaking Swahili from your very first lesson.
