machines.
• Understand the theoretical and basic aspects of various electric
machines including transformers.
• Acquire skills in recognizing the basic construction components
and parameters of the machines and in measuring the typical
variables.
• Be able to derive the equivalent models and determine the
parameters of the machine.
• Be able to use the equivalent models to solve for the induced and
terminal voltages, field and armature currents, electrical power,
mechanical torque, and shaft speed.

Course Learning Objectives
• Use modeling techniques/equivalent circuit to analyze the
operation and characteristics of electric machines and
transformers
• Select appropriate parameters of electric machines to meet some
desired characteristics.
• Identify the required tests to find the parameters of the electric
machines.
• Use Matlab software to analyze the characteristics of electric
machines.
• Analyze the obtained characteristics of a machine and classify it
accordingly.
• Use complex numbers, maximum/minimum theorems to analyze the
characteristics and find out the limit capability of electric
machines.
