Assignment For DBMS

The document discusses the components of a database system environment, including hardware, software, people, procedures, and data. It describes the main hardware components like processors, RAM, and storage devices. It outlines the key software components such as operating systems, database management systems, and application software. It also explains the roles of different people involved, including administrators, designers, analysts, programmers, and end users. Procedures that govern the design and use of the database are also covered. Finally, it notes that data is the collection of facts stored in the database.

Database System Environment
The DBMS component module
Database System Environment is the computers database system which is a composition or a collection
of storage ,management, and use of data with in a database environment, with in this environment there are a
components which called Hardware ,software ,peoples procedures and the data these are the component which
build up the entire computers database management system.
Hardware :-is all about the system’s physical devices, the database system main and most easily identified
hardware component in the computers system , which might be a microprocessors ,RAM, monitors which
displays the data , hard disk which is responsible for the data stored on database. It also include peripherals like
keyboard, mouse ,modem, printers and other computers device that includes input and output devices.
Software:-is the collections of programs used by the computer within the database system.
# Operating system software /OS/ -this is a type of software which manages all hardware components and
makes it possible for all other software to run on the computer. Window Line operating system used by most
personal computers. Linux line operating systems used by servers and mini computers and iOS and Android
operationg system which is mostly used by now day smartphone.
# DBMS Software – it is a software that manages the database with in the database system , MS- Access ,MS
SQL Server , Oracle , DB2 etc , are some of famous DBMS Software .
#Application software & utilities software – This software are used to access and manipulate the data in
the DBMS to manage the computers environment in which data access and mainipulation takes place.
Peoples :- this term includes all all the persons which have had access the database.
system administrator is the controllers of database system general operations.
 Database administrators: is a person that manage DBMS ‘s use and ensure that the database is
functioning properly.
 Database designers:-a p erson which design the database structure. They are in effect the database
architects. If the database design is poor even the best application programmers and the most
dedicated DBAs will fail to produce a useful database environment.
 System Analysts and Programmers: design and implement the application programs. They design
and create the data entry screens, reports, and procedures through which end user access and
manipulate the database’s data.
 End Users: are the people who use the application programs to run the organization’s daily
operations. E.g. sales clerks, supervisors, managers, and directors are all classified as end users.
High-level end users employ the information obtained from the database to make tactical and
strategic business decisions.
Procedures :- Procedures are the instructions and rules that govern the design and use of the database
system. Procedure are a critical, although occasionally forgotten, component of the system.
Procedures play a very important role in a company, because they enforce the standards by which
business is conducted within the organization and with customers.
Data :- It covers the collection of facts stored in the database. Because data are the
raw material from which information is generated, the determination of which data are to be
entered into the database and how such data are to be organized is a vital part of the database
designer’s job.
