Procedure for Students from Outside POL

Wishing to Apply for Credit Transfer Approval

POL welcomes applications from CityU students who are eligible to apply for such transfer. You follow
the procedure:
1. should apply by emailing (email). Please do not contact course lecturers directly. We manage this
activity at the departmental level.
2. You apply by fully completing the non-pol credit transfer application form. This is a word
document; ensure you save it as a word document. It will be returned to you in pdf format with our
decision.
3. Use the subject line “non-POL CU request: …”
4. the email should specify the POL course code and name for which you wish to gain approval
5. you should state the course name and code in the host institution for which you wish recognition.
6. You must attach information which states the course outline, the assessment, contact hours and if
possible key readings. We do not accept web addresses.

We will make a decision whether to approve or reject based on the information you provide. We will not
seek further information from you and we will not check your DegreeWorks to ascertain whether the POL
course for which you apply forms a legitimate part of your study requirements.
The process normally takes seven days and a student who submit multiple requests for courses in a
manner that appears speculative will be ignored.
A student who wishes to appeal a decision should do so by contacting your own department’s
administration.
All approvals are done via email. We don’t sign or stamp forms unless you bring them in person to the
POL General Office and return to pick them up once the decision is made. You will be informed by email.
For environmental reasons, we do not like paper submissions.
