1st Lab Task Zeeshan Ali

The document discusses the main internal parts of a CPU in a desktop computer. It identifies 9 key parts: the arithmetic logic unit (ALU) which performs arithmetic and logic operations; the control unit (CU) which directs operations of the CPU; the memory unit which stores data; RAM which provides short-term memory; the hard disk drive which stores long-term data; the solid state drive (SSD) which uses flash memory for storage; the motherboard which connects components; the graphics processing unit (GPU) which accelerates graphics; and registers which store and manipulate data during instruction execution.

Lab Task # 01
Identify the internal parts of CPU in tower top or desktop
casing of Lab PC’s available your laboratory

Main Internal Parts Of CPU:

A CPU has three main parts:
1) Arithmatic logic unit (ALU)
2) Control unit (CU)
3) Memory unit
1) Arithmatic logic unit (ALU) :
An arithmetic-logic unit is the part
of a central processing unit that carries out arithmetic and logic
operations on the operands in computer instruction words.

2) Control unit :
A control unit, or CU, is circuitry within a computer's
processor that directs operations. It instructs the memory, logic unit,
and both output and input devices of
the computer on how to respond to the
program's instructions. CPUs and
GPUs are examples of devices that
use control units.
3) Memory unit :
A memory unit is the
amount of data that the memory can
hold. Besides, we measure this storage
capacity in terms of bytes. Moreover,
there are different units of memory as
per the requirement.
4) RAM :
Random-access memory, or
RAM, is one of the most important
parts of our computer. It provides
high-speed, short-term memory for
our computer's CPU.
5) Harddisk :
A hard disk drive (HDD) is an internal or external
computer component that stores data, such as the operating
system, applications, and user files.

6) SSD :
A solid-state drive
(SSD) is a semiconductor-
based storage device, which
typically uses NAND flash
memory to save persistent data.

7) Motherboard :
A motherboard is
the main printed circuit board (PCB) in
general-purpose computers and other
expandable systems. It holds and
allows communication between.
8) GPU :
Graphics processing unit,
a specialized processor originally
designed to accelerate graphics
rendering. GPUs can process
many pieces of data
simultaneously, making them
useful for machine learning, video
editing, and gaming applications.

9) Register :
Registers are a type of computer memory built directly
into the processor or CPU (Central Processing Unit) that is used to
store and manipulate data during the execution of instructions.
