CLO1: Distinguish basic concepts of research processes in the creative arts field. (C2, PLO1)
CLO2: Develop a research proposal as the basis for an academic report writing for Final Year Project through reading,
evaluating, and formulating ideas for research. (C5, PLO2)
Project Objectives:
The main objective of this assignment is:
1. To demonstrate the student’s interpretation of data collection through selected tools and techniques selected.
2. To demonstrate the student’s skill in conducting research as part of the process in writing their research proposal
Project Brief:

You are required to select a real problem topic of interest from field of research. Based on the selected topic, you are
required to conduct a data collection activity to support your research design. As a researcher, you are all encouraged to
get involved with the data collection and report the findings based on your preliminary analysis. For the assignment, you
will do the following in a short paper:

 Describe the data collection activity itself (interviews, surveys, library research, etc.) AND why this specific form
of data collection was/were chosen. Be sure to explain why you think this kind of data will help you in your
design process. Also be sure to provide details about the activity: how many interviews, how long they took,
where they took place, how many questions asked in a survey, how did you selected your samples, how many
respondents, etc.
 Explain how you employed your data collection activity, for example: how you chose who to interview, how and
why you selected survey respondents, what books or journals you decided to research, etc.
 Present the results of your data collection. You do not have to completely analyze all your data but do make sure
you present the results of your research in your paper. If you did a survey, please attach a copy of the survey as
an appendix; if you did interviews, please attach a copy of the interview questions.
 Discuss any preliminary analysis of your data.

Plagiarism
Plagiarism is the presentation of work which has been copied in whole or in part from another person’s work, or from any other source
such as the internet, published books or periodicals without due acknowledgement given in the text.

Collusion
Collusion is the presentation of work that is the result in whole or in part of unauthorized collaboration with another person or persons.

Where there are reasonable grounds for believing that cheating has occurred, the only action that may be taken when plagiarism or
collusion is detected is for the staff member not to mark the item of work and to report or refer the matter to the Dean. This may
result in work being disallowed and given a fail grade or if the circumstances warrant, the matter may be referred to a Committee of
inquiry for investigation. Such investigation may result in the matter being referred to the University Discipline Committee, which
has the power to exclude a student.

Note: Assignments are returned after being assessed by lecturer and to be collected from the lecturer’s office. Students should
