Introduction:
Students provided with bothstrong theoretical background and practical knowledge about prevalent
information system available having solid grounding in database technology, which can be used to
analyze, design and develop a working database. While students are exposed to the entire process,
specific emphasis is placed on the analysis, design and development phases and all related issues.

Course Objectives:
Information Systems have become essential for creating competitive firms, managing global corporations,
and providing useful products and services to customers. To develop level of understanding for designing
information systems with DBMS technology to solve information processingproblems of business and their vital
role in management.

Learning Outcomes:
Upon successful completion of this course you will be able to implement concepts of system
development process, fundamentals of DBMS and its applications, model sample information systems
by data modeling, database design and development, interactive input design, comprehensive reports
and output design, applying query language for data manipulation, testing and documentation. Finally
an Information System is developed using MS Access.

Testing and Grading:

Learning will be accomplished through lectures, outside readings, student’s participation in


classroom discussion. Grading will tend to focus on your overall performance rather than one or
two aspects. Course grade will include the quizzes, assignment, midterms, and final
examination. Excessive absences because of any reason (more than 25%) will result in “F
Grade”. Students coming late to the class will also be marked absent. All the lectures and
assignments along with their due dates will be available to students.
