Menigoz Final Project
Menigoz Final Project
Introduction:
As teachers, we have a lot on our plates with organizing, planning, creating, and reflecting.
Nearpod is a wonderful tool to help teachers teach the lessons interactively to their students.
Nearpod can be used online and in the classroom. There are many Nearpod lessons to choose
from for all grade levels, but teachers can also create their own lessons. These lessons make
learning fun by adding in quiz questions, matching activities, writing pads, polls, sticky notes,
and videos. Nearpod is a wonderful tool for teachers to use to save their time in the future.
This project is being proposed to elementary teachers K-5 at Madison Elementary School. This
project will be available online to give teachers flexibility to do the course when it works for
them. This project proposal will give my co-workers a better understanding of Nearpod.
Project Definition:
Nearpod is a free tool for anyone to access. Nearpod offers lessons that teachers can use in the
classroom as well as the opportunity to make their own interactive lessons. It is simple to use and
saves time in the future when you can save your lessons to use each year as well as make edits to
them. Nearpod can be used in the classroom as a whole group lesson, but can also be assigned to
students to work at their own pace or offer it distance learning too.
This project will be online on a document where teachers will be able to click and watch a video
and then do an assignment following the instruction. This project will be designed for K-5
elementary teachers at Madison Elementary. The goal of this project is to become familiar with
Nearpod and all it can offer to teachers. Teachers can achieve this goal by watching online
tutorial videos and complete assignments to check understanding of the skills taught.
This project will consist of 9 mini lessons along with additional videos for further learning.
Videos will be provided for them to watch and then a short assignment or reflection will be
posted for them to complete. Videos are less than 4 minutes each and will provide teachers with
the important information needed to use Nearpod. The lessons will be available for teachers to
complete on their own time in smaller chunks. Teachers will be able to use what they are
learning and apply it to their classrooms. It will also give them the opportunity to use Nearpod
with their students during the school year.
Nearpod has different plans to use as a teacher or as a district. The silver plan is free to use and
will allow 40 students to join per lesson and has 1 MB of storage. The gold plan is $159 per year
and will allow 75 students to join per lesson and has 1 GB of storage. The platinum plan is $397
per year and will allow 90 students to join per lesson and has 5 GB of storage. There is an option
for a whole district subscription which would allow 250 students to join a lesson and would have
unlimited storage. The cost of this is not presented on the website but a call would need to be
scheduled to set this up with the company of Nearpod. Teachers would need to create an account
to get started with the basic silver plan. Teachers will be using the free silver plan for this
project.
Design Document
Executive Summary:
Planning and preparing lessons is a big job for teachers. They are finding engaging ways to reach
all their students. Teachers should not have to recreate the wheel in creating engaging lesson
plans. Nearpod allows teachers to use lessons already made for them and also allows them to
create their own and save for future use. This will save teachers valuable time on lesson planning
each year. They might just have to make adjustments for the following year of what went well
and what didn’t work. According to Upeducators, Nearpod has many benefits that will draw
teachers to use it. It increases student engagement and is interactive and multimedia rich (2022).
Engagement is a big part of student success. When a teacher creates and delivers a lesson that is
engaging to the students, they will have success in learning that lesson. Nearpod offers different
ways to engage students. Some examples are memory games, videos, quiz questions, sticky note,
polls, and interactive learning games. Students will have fun as they are learning.
Flexible learning is another part of education today. With recently having to teach online,
Nearpod would have been a great tool to utilize to keep students engaged at home learning.
Teachers can present the lessons in the classroom as well as online. This would be nice to have
for students who are sick for a long period of time. They would still be able to participate and
keep up with their work. According to Upeducators, teachers can provide immediate feedback on
lessons that they assign to their students (2022). If we would need to go to distance learning just
like the pandemic in 2020, Nearpod would be a great tool to use to keep students learning each
and every day while staying safe.
Nearpod is an engaging piece of software that teachers will want to know more about. This
proposal will be 9 mini sessions on how to use and navigate Nearpod along with optional videos
for further learning. Teachers will be given a document to click on the videos for each session
and will have a short assignment to measure what they learned. This will be done online and
teachers will determine when they work on it. I will present it at the beginning of the year and set
the deadline to be done by the 1st quarter. This will give teachers time to play with what they
learned in the project. This is free for teachers. They will just need a laptop to complete the
project.
Audience Definition:
The K-5 Elementary Teachers at Madison Elementary will be the audience for this project. These
teachers are familiar with a Google Doc to navigate for this project. The teachers will be able to
click on the video link to access the project. They have knowledge on how to put things into a
google folder as well.
Delivery Environment:
This project will be offered online where K-5 teachers of Madison Elementary will be able to
click and watch videos and then participate in a reflection or assessment afterwards. There will
be 9 mini lessons that will need to be completed. Teachers will be given this at the beginning of
the year and will need to complete it by the end of 1st Quarter. This will give them time to
complete in their own time. If these teachers have any questions, they can direct them to the
instructor via email, phone or a meeting time. Instructor email is [email protected] and
the phone number is 605-256-7721. The assessments and reflections will be handed into a
Google Doc folder where the instructor can make comments and look at progress made.
General Outcomes:
After reviewing the videos and completing the assignments, teachers will be able to create
lessons for their classroom. This lesson will show their understanding of using Nearpod and
teachers will be able to use that lesson in their classroom.
Assessment Strategies:
Teachers will be assessed after each mini lesson. They will submit their assignments or share a
link to the google folder where the instructor will be able to view them. At the end of the course,
lessons will be made which will show progress of the teachers who participated in the project.
Content Organization:
The content of this project will be on a google doc that will be shared with the K-5 Elementary
teachers at Madison Elementary. Teachers will be able to click on the Google Doc to view the
video and then the assignment or reflection will be underneath it. There will be a google folder
shared where all the assignments and reflections will be submitted to.
Content Sources:
Youtube videos for beginners of Nearpod will be used to deliver content to the teachers.
Instructional Strategies:
Teachers will access this project through a google document. They will be able to click on the
video link to access the material for that mini lesson. After the video, they will be instructed to
do an assignment or reflection that relates to the mini lesson presented. They will put any
assignments or reflections into the google folder on the google document. Everything will be on
one document for them to navigate through.

youtube, and the Nearpod website will need to be accessed. Teachers will also need to make sure
their volume and videos are working properly on their computer.
Evaluation Plans:
My discussion team in this class will review my project many times before I would implement it
to the K-5 Elementary Teachers at Madison Elementary. I would also have my principal and
technology teacher look the project over to ensure that it will be worthwhile to teachers. My
project would be reviewed with feedback multiple times before presenting it to the teachers.
When teachers have completed their assignments, they will be shared to the google folder for the
instructor to look over and track progress. This is nice because on Google Docs you can create
comments to communicate with the educators as they are completing assignments.
Communication will also be available through the Google Doc to answer any questions teachers
may have.
Development Tools:
Google Docs, youtube, and the Nearpod website will be needed to complete this project.
Delivery Platform:
