Pressure drawdown test analysis provides information about reservoir properties by measuring pressure changes in a wellbore during fluid withdrawal. This allows calculation of properties like permeability, porosity, and fluid saturation from a computer analysis. The results can then be used to assess reservoir performance by calculating its productivity index and potential energy, and identifying any wellbore issues affecting fluid flow.

Materials and Methods

Pressure drawdown test analysis is a valuable tool for reservoir performance assessment because it
provides information about the reservoir properties that can be used to make informed decisions
about reservoir development and production.

Materials
 Pressure gauge: A pressure gauge is a device that is used to measure the pressure of a fluid.
In the context of pressure drawdown testing, a pressure gauge is used to measure the
change in pressure in a wellbore as a result of fluid withdrawal.
 Wellbore: A wellbore is a hole that is drilled into the ground to access a reservoir. In the
context of pressure drawdown testing, a wellbore is used to inject or produce fluid from a
reservoir.
 Reservoir: A reservoir is a geological formation that contains hydrocarbons. Hydrocarbons
are organic compounds that are made up of hydrogen and carbon.
 Fluid: A fluid is a substance that can flow. In the context of reservoir performance
assessment, fluids can be either liquids or gases.
 Computer: A computer is used to analyze the pressure drawdown test data. The computer
software is used to calculate the reservoir properties, such as permeability and porosity.

Methods
 Pressure drawdown test: A pressure drawdown test is a test that is used to measure the
change in pressure in a wellbore as a result of fluid withdrawal. The pressure change is then
analyzed to determine the reservoir properties.
 Permeability: Permeability is a measure of the ability of a porous medium to allow fluids to
flow through it. Reservoir permeability is important because it affects the rate at which
hydrocarbons can be produced from a reservoir.
 Porosity: Porosity is a measure of the amount of void space in a porous medium. Reservoir
porosity is important because it determines the amount of hydrocarbons that can be stored
in a reservoir.
 Fluid saturation: Fluid saturation is a measure of the amount of fluid in a porous medium.
Reservoir fluid saturation is important because it affects the flow of fluids through the
reservoir.

The results of pressure drawdown test analysis can be incorporated into reservoir performance
assessment by:

 Using the reservoir properties to calculate the reservoir productivity index (PI): The PI is a
measure of the ability of a well to produce fluids.
 Using the reservoir pressure to calculate the reservoir potential energy (PE): The PE is a
measure of the amount of energy that can be obtained from the reservoir.
 Using the wellbore condition to identify problems with the wellbore that may be affecting
the flow of fluids. This information can be used to plan wellbore maintenance or
remediation.
