Poem
Three sided world
A
World
This where
We live in
Poor people ignored
The majority’s suffering
The middle is wondering
When will it stop happening
Riches are reigning in this land
Away goes justice , Away goes my dear
This world is lack of equality and honesty
When will I escape this three sided world

RRRUN LOLA RUN
From the amazing opening sequence, before the credits, all the way to the end of the screening when I was
standing on my feet shouting and applauding, Run, Lola, Run is a film I could not take my eyes off of. It's too
good a movie to be true. It has everything - a great story, two amazing and believable characters, an
adventure, a mystery about time, love and insecurity, a ticking clock, a few guns, a philandering father, and
even a cartoon or two. There is also an ending you cannot foresee and this is where Run, Lola, Run separates
itself from the pack.
To be exact there are three endings. At the end of the first sequence Lola has run head-on into the dire
consequences of trying to save her boyfriend Manni's life by trying desperately to raise 100,000 marks in
twenty minutes, all while racing pell-mell through the streets of Berlin. You think the film is over, but it isn't.

Slowly you realize the story is starting over again at the beginning. The consequences are shattering. In a
perfectly natural and completely believable way, the extra ten seconds means that things happen in the
second that didn't in the first, and vice versa. The second sequence ends with the opposite conclusion of the
first.
And then Lola begins again, jumps over the dog this time, and the third sequence begins, once again a few
seconds different from either of the first two. And once more the conclusion is unimaginably different.
Which ending is real? It makes no difference. We are willing to believe any of the three, because they all
work.
Tom Tykwer's direction seems flawless, at a faster pace than you've seen before in a film. In the few
moments when Lola actually stops running, and the music stops, you feel as if all time has shut down as
well. The silence is jarring. Then everything picks right up again. The time play is absolutely brilliant.
Photography is excellent. His "gimmick" is that every time Lola and Manni are filmed it is on 35mm, and
every scene in which they are not involved is shot on videotape. Therefore Lola and Manni's scenes jump out
at us, a very effective device. And the soundtrack, an integral part of Lola's full speed flight through the city,
should be on everybody's dance list. Director Twyker also composed the music, with Reinhold Heil and
Johnny Klimek.
But above all it's the story. When you can sum up a story in one sentence you know you have a great one:
"Lola has twenty minutes to come up with 100,000 marks and run through the city to rescue her true love."
And she does it, and then she does it again, and then she does it again. Lola is amazing.
I AM SAM
Tucked behind many of the scenes in "I Am Sam" are covers of Beatles songs, ranging from Eddie Vedder's
"You've Got to Hide Your Love Away" to Sheryl Crow's "Mother Nature's Son." Not only do these melodies
sound great, they also serve as a fascinating point of comparison.

Like some of John Lennon and Paul McCartney's compositions, "Sam" seems simplistic and sentimental on
the surface -- try reading aloud the lyrics to "She Loves You" or "Yesterday" -- but as director Jessie Nelson
and stars Sean Penn, Michelle Pfeiffer and a knockout of a young actress named Dakota Fanning draw us
into the story, it's difficult not to be moved.

Nelson and co-writer Kristine Johnson have provided the words, but it's the actors who make "Sam" sing, in
the same way the energy and passion of the Beatles turned what could have been merely pretty tunes into
unforgettable records.

Penn and Pfeiffer, both of whom long ago proved they're allergic to mawkishness and manipulation, are
superbly cast in a movie that could have wound up as a run-of-the-mill made-for-TV potboiler, were it not
for their high-caliber talent and Nelson and Johnson's thoughtful script.

Penn plays Sam Dawson, a mentally challenged man who is saddled with caring for his infant daughter Lucy
Diamond Dawson after his girlfriend makes a hasty exit. Sam, who is estimated to have the intellectual
capacity of a 7-year-old, works at Starbucks, where he meticulously organizes sugar packets and mugs.

Life is difficult but manageable until Lucy (Fanning) turns 8 and her friends begin to make cracks about her
dad. Lucy, in sympathy, tries to hold herself back in her classes so that she won't attain a higher reading level
than Sam's. After a while, however, she can't avoid facing the fact that her father is different: She looks on in
silent humiliation when Sam throws a tantrum at a restaurant and when he acts a bit too silly at a classroom
Halloween party.

A couple of misjudgments lead a social worker to remove Lucy from Sam's care, and he's forced to get help
from Rita Harrison (Pfeiffer), a legal eagle so hard-driving she moves through her day like a Sherman tank
with faulty brakes. But behind her Armani suits, permanently clenched jaw and joyless smile is a woman
about a heartbeat away from despair. "It's like every morning I wake up and I fail," Rita says, as she watches
her marriage crumble and her relationship with her son deteriorate.

Although "Sam" doesn't always work (Sam's retinue of helpful friends seem more like easy comic relief than
believable characters), when it connects, it does so with surprising force. A word to the wise: Do not leave
your tissues at home.

Penn creates some extremely poignant moments as Sam struggles first with the responsibilities of parenthood
and then with the frustrations of bureaucracies. While Pfeiffer's role is less showy, she navigates Rita's
jumbled emotions skillfully and plays off of Penn so wonderfully, it would be a treat to see them work
together again.
The angel-faced Fanning is a portrait of sincerity in the pivotal role of Lucy, and the filmmakers are
extraordinarily lucky to have her. If a cloying cutie had been cast in the part, even the honesty of Penn and
Pfeiffer's performances wouldn't have been enough to save the show. "Sam" succeeds because of the
conviction of everyone associated with it -- and that soundtrack certainly doesn't hurt either.
Girl,Interupted
Jolie provides the fireworks, but producer-star Winona Ryder gives the film its steadying, heartfelt center.
The actress snapped up the rights to Susanna Kaysen's 1993 memoir of her two-year stint in an upscale
psychiatric hospital in the late 1960s. But it took her almost six years to find a suitable director. She hit pay
dirt with James Mangold ("Heavy," "Copland"), who eschews the genre's potential touchy-feely pitfalls and
opts for a rip-roaring tone more akin to "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest." (Jolie is already being called "a
female Jack Nicholson.")

Not that you don't see teddy bears and girls in fluffy slippers, but there's something unexpectedly unsettling
about "Girl, Interrupted." It puts you on edge.

Ambushed by her parents and a "family friend" therapist who talks to her for about 20 minutes, 18-year-old
Susanna signs herself into Claymoore, only to find that most of the patients aren't quiet little sensitive-
depressives like her. Aside from the flamboyant Lisa, there's Polly , who's burned off half her face; Daisy ,
who's addicted to laxatives, chicken and Daddy; and Georgina , a compulsive liar with a "Wizard of Oz"
fixation. Compared with them, Susanna seems positively sane — except that she chased a bottle of aspirin
with a bottle of vodka because "I had a headache."

"Girl, Interrupted" leans a little too heavily on the '60s dictum that only the crazy are sane. And a last-act
confrontation is as superfluous as it is over the top. But overall, the movie is a wonderful surprise, especially
for those expecting a kind of women-as-victims update of "The Snake Pit."

These kids definitely aren't all right, and the movie is careful to show them as individuals, not just as cultural
detritus that doesn't fit in. Mangold reinforces this aspect with a strong cast of authority figures:as the
imposing yet sympathetic head therapist; Jeffrey Tambor as a superficially foolish yet genuinely caring
doctor; and Whoopi Goldberg, who may look like a cross between Angela Davis and Buddha in her '60s Afro
and serape but who understands Susanna better than anyone else, telling her, "You're a lazy, self-indulgent
little girl who's driving herself crazy."

Jolie's role is a built-in showcase, but to her credit, she does many daring and unexpected things with it.
Ryder is in charge of her camera-ready fragility and vulnerability, using it in a shrewdly nuanced portrayal
that's the best work she's ever done.
