3.1 eCommission SmartX Controllers Mobile Application Overview
Major functions
• Browse objects
objects: Once a SmartX IP controller is installed and checked out,
you can use the Browse Objects function of the eCommission SmartX
Controllers mobile application to view and edit the objects within a
controller. For more information, see section 12.6 “Browsing and Modifying
Object Properties” on page 116.
• Configuration menu
menu: Download a Configuration Menu to a controller to
expedite the configuration process of device commissioning. For more
information, see section 9.1 “Configuration Menu Overview” on page 81.
• Controller list creator
creator: Document the SmartX IP Controller devices and their
locations on an EcoStruxure network. The Controller List Creator captures
device information from the Data Matrix symbol on the tear-off product info
label of a SmartX IP Controller device. The captured information can be
exported to a file for use as system documentation. For more information,
see section 7.2 “Capturing a Device with the Controller List Creator” on
page 62.
• Device restart
restart: Perform a restart of the controller to work around issues or
confirm IP changes. For more information, see section 12.3 “Device Restart”
on page 113.

V controllers. This function automates most of the air balance procedure but
it also allows you to manipulate VAV tasks individually. For more information,
see section 11.1 “Flow Balance Overview” on page 95.
• I/O checkout
checkout: After you have wired the physical inputs and outputs of the
controller, you can perform I/O checkout to verify that the wiring was done
correctly and that the physical inputs and outputs are working properly. The
I/O checkout status of each input and output can be found in the Inputs and
Outputs view. In the Device List view, the checkout statuses of all the inputs
and outputs in a SmartX IP Controller device are aggregated and displayed
as the Checkout status of the controller. As you are performing I/O
checkout, two files are generated in the background, within the SmartX IP
Controller device. An I/O checkout report details the results of the checkout,
and a commissioning log file records the steps that were performed. At the
completion of checkout these files can be viewed in WorkStation. For more
information, see section 10.3 “Performing I/O Checkout” on page 91.
• Status information

NOTICE
If a network device cannot find a DHCP server, the device performs an
autoconfiguration and assigns itself a link-local IP address.
For more information, see section 5.5 “Connecting to Single SmartX IP
Controller by Wire” on page 47.
There are a total of 65,023 usable IP addresses, ranging from 169.254.1.0 to
169.254.254.255.
For more information, see the SmartX IP Controller Commissioning Scenarios
topic on WebHelp.
To connect the eCommission application remotely, you must have at least one
BBMD on the subnet that you are connecting to. To access the entire remote
BACnet internetwork, you must have a networked set of BBMDs. In addition to
the BBMD you must ensure that the local network that the mobile device is a part
of is compatible with the remote network. Typically this requires that you have
VPN access to the remote network.
This document is not intended to instruct you how to set up a BBMD for use with
the eCommission application. For further help with implementing BBMD with the
eCommission application, consult with the system administrator.
3. Select the Information button next to the network you have selected.

NOTICE
When connecting the eCommission application laptop computer to one or
more SmartX IP controllers by wire, you must use one of three methods of IP
addressing:
• Include a DHCP server to assign dynamic addresses to the controllers.
• Where a DHCP server is not included, use AutoIP to assign dynamic
addresses to the controllers.
• Where a DHCP server is not included, assign static addresses to the
controllers.
NOTICE
You do not need to know the IP address of the eCommission application
because it is not required for BACnet device discovery. For more information,
see the BACnet Device Discovery topic on WebHelp.
NOTICE
When the SmartX IP controller's Ethernet port 2 is not used by the controller
network, you can connect the eCommission application using that port without
disruption or additional hardware. When the SmartX IP controller's Ethernet
port 2 is used by the controller network (for example, in a daisy-chain or RSTP
network topology), you can add a temporary switch or hub to ensure that
connectivity is maintained while the eCommission application is in operation.
If Ethernet port 2 will not be used, you can disable this port for network security
purposes by configuring the Ethernet port 2 property on the Basic tab of the
SmartX IP controller. For more information, see the SmartX IP Controller
Settings Properties – Basic Tab topic on WebHelp.

11.1 Flow Balance Overview
NOTICE
The eCommission application supports flow balancing for MP-Vs with the data
object Variable Air Volume only. The eCommission application does not
support flow balancing for MP-Vs with custom balancing programs.
NOTICE
In the Air Balancing Setpoints view, the Intermediate flow and Minimum flow
setpoint check boxes are cleared by default. However, it is recommended that
you include either or both these setpoints for flow balancing, in addition to the
Maximum flow setpoint. Doing so allows you to achieve greater flow accuracy
across the operating flow range of the VAV unit.
Verify rotation
You can manually verify the direction of damper rotation to determine whether
the actuator rotates clockwise or counterclockwise to open.
Manual checkout
After completing the automated flow balancing process, you can use manual
checkout to verify and command the air flow values for one or multiple MP-V
controllers.
Balance report
The eCommission application provides the user with a means to generate a flow
balance report that documents several values, including: the box capacity at 1
inch H20 (249 Pa), the box measured flow and the hood measured flow for each
setpoint used during balancing, actuator stroke and rotation, flow balance time
and date, and any comments. Using the eCommission application, the user can
create, append, and delete flow balance reports. Flow balance reports are
stored on the eCommission application mobile device and can be retrieved and
shared using the file and e-mail applications of that mobile device.
Connect to an MP-V
Discover controllers on the site, and connect to a single MP-V.
For more information, see section 6.1 “Device Discovery ” on page 55.
Balance at setpoints
Using the eCommission application, you flow balance a VAV unit at each
designated setpoint to achieve the desired air flow.
For more information, see section 11.4 “Flow Balancing at Maximum,
Intermediate, or Minimum Flow Setpoint” on page 101.
NOTICE
In the Air Balancing Setpoints view, the Intermediate flow and Minimum
flow setpoint check boxes are cleared by default. However, it is
recommended that you include either or both these setpoints for flow
balancing, in addition to the Maximum flow setpoint. Doing so allows you
to achieve greater flow accuracy across the operating flow range of the
VAV unit.
For more information, see section 11.2 “Flow Balancer Workflow” on page 97.
NOTICE
During flow balancing at maximum flow, the MP-V controller's actuator
rotates the damper, which is driven until a stable flow is produced at the
flow setpoint.
3. Monitor Box measured flow until its value reaches the setpoint and remains
within tolerance for 10 seconds, signifying that the flow has stabilized.
NOTICE
In the Air Balancing Setpoints view, the Flow tolerance value defines
how close the measured box flow must be to the associated setpoint
before the eCommission application automatically advances, so that the
flow balancer can measure and record diffuser flow values.
4. On the terminal box being balanced, position a flow hood at one of the
outlet diffusers and then record the flow. Repeat this for any additional
outlet diffusers on the terminal box.
5. Select the grayed portion of the window to open the Balance at Maximum
view.
6. In the Diffuser 1 flow box, type the measured flow value recorded in the
previous step.
7. In the Diffuser 2 flow box, type the next measured flow value.
8. Continue typing measured flow values for any additional outlet diffusers.
NOTICE
Hood measured flow is calculated by the sum of the Diffuser values. For
example, if you have two diffusers, the hood measured flow will be the
sum of Diffuser1 and Diffuser2 measurements. The Hood Measured Flow
should be similar to the Box Measured Flow value.
9. In the Comment field, enter a comment to add to the Air Balancing Report.
10. Select Next
Next. After completing flow balance at the maximum flow setpoint,
the eCommission application automatically proceeds to flow balancing at
the intermediate and minimum flow setpoints, if selected.
The VAV unit is flow balanced at the selected setpoints. Now you are ready to
perform manual checkout.
2. Select the information icon to expand the Current Status pane and
then monitor the response in the terminal box.
You have manually verified the performance of the terminal box following flow
balancing. Next you can view, create, append, or manage the flow balance
reports.

folder on the mobile device. To do this, select the path in the Location: text
box, choose Select All and then Copy Copy, and then paste the path in File Explorer
or a similar file navigation utility available on the device.
13.4.1 Solution
Copy an application image file from the WorkStation computer to the Application
Images folder on the mobile device and then resume downloading the image to
the SmartX IP controller.
For more information, see section 9.3 “Transferring an Application Image File to
a Mobile Device or Windows 10 laptop” on page 83.
For more information, see section 9.4 “Downloading an Application Image to a
SmartX IP Controller” on page 84.
13.5.1 Solution
In WorkStation, temporarily unhost the controller by deleting the device object
from the server and then return to the eCommission application to resume
editing the object in the Edit Properties dialog box.
For more information, see section 8.5 “Creating a Common Device Settings File”
on page 72.
13.6.1 Solution
In the List Creator view, delete the duplicate data set by selecting the Delete
button next to each data item. When finished, scan the Data Matrix symbol on
the next controller's tear-off product info label.
For more information, see section 7.2 “Capturing a Device with the Controller
List Creator” on page 62.
13.7.1 Solution
The MP-V allows for custom-built control applications. However, applications
that do not contain the Variable Air Volume Data object and its children are not
supported in the eCommission SmartX Controllers mobile applicaiton. Contact
the controls contractor or Integrator to have the MP-V re-engineered to include
this object.

14.1 Cybersecurity and the eCommission SmartX Controllers Mobile Application
14.1.1 Connectivity
The eCommission application uses a wired Ethernet or WiFi connection to
communicate with SmartX IP controllers.
14.1.3 Configuration
Installation of the eCommission application is performed by the user of the
mobile device. The installer obtains an activation code from a Schneider Electric
representative and then enters it during the activation process.
The eCommission application has no default password. Once the application is
installed, the user is prompted, at the time of activation, to create a user name
and password. The user may change the password at any time, following the
application’s activation.
14.1.4 Operation
Several options are available for connecting the eCommission application to
SmartX IP controllers.
For more information, see section 5.3 “Connection and Architecture Options” on
page 41.
Settings for SmartX IP controller network communications are configured as part
of the device settings.
For more information, see section 8.1 “SmartX IP Controller Device Settings” on
page 67.
Password requirements are in effect for use with the eCommission application:
• Contains at least 8 characters in total
• Contains at least 1 number
• Contains at least 1 special character
• Contains at least 1 upper-case character
• Contains at least 1 lower-case character
• Contains no more than 3 repeating identical characters
If you encounter cybersecurity incidents or vulnerabilities while using the
eCommission application, report it to the following website:

electric.com/sites/corporate/en/support/cybersecurity/contact-form.page
14.1.5 Maintenance
Once installed and activated, the eCommission application routinely checks the
respective application store, namely Android Play, the Apple App Store, or the
Microsoft Store, for updates. The mobile application is maintained through the
update process, which is followed by the user when the mobile application
indicates that a new build is available.
Activation status of the eCommission application is time-sensitive. 30 days prior
to expiration, the mobile application begins warning the user, each time it is
used, that expiration is approaching. If the user intends to keep the mobile
application activated beyond the expiration date, a Schneider Electric
representative must be contacted so that a new activation code can be
acquired.
14.1.6 Decommissioning
When the eCommission application is no longer needed, the application should
be decommissioned. To do this, use the appropriate functions provided on the
device and operating system to uninstall the application and remove all related
data from the device.
NOTICE
If the eCommission application is allowed to remain on the device, an
unauthorized person may use the application to access certain vulnerable
items, including the following:
• Controller lists created by the Controller List Creator
• Diagnostic reports
• Flow balance reports
14.1.7 Resetting
To reset the eCommission application, for example to provide the application to
a different user, use the appropriate functions provided on the device and
operating system to uninstall and then reinstall the application.
14.1.8 Limitations
The BACnet protocol is generally known to be a non-secure protocol. When
using BACnet on a network, you must take precautions to prevent unauthorized
access.
