Operating Systems 1

This document provides instructions for installing VirtualBox and creating virtual machines to run Ubuntu and Windows 10. It outlines steps to [1] download and install VirtualBox, [2] assign RAM and storage when creating new virtual machines for each OS, and [3] mount ISO files to install the guest operating systems. Key points covered include minimum system requirements for hosting virtual machines, how to take snapshots to revert machines to a previous state, and a summary of what was learned from completing the lab.

4. Creating Virtual Machines:

4.1 Ubuntu

create
new virtual
machine, put name and type.
We
assign the size
of the ram memory and the size of the storage.

4.2 Windows 10

We repeat the steps we used in Ubuntu but with the new configuration: 6 GB
of RAM, 60 GB of storage.
5. Virtual Machines Without operating system:
Cannot log in or use the virtual machine due to lack of operating system.

6. Installing Ubuntu:
We mount the .ISO in our virtual machine.
7.
Installing
Windows:
Mount the operating system, configure the installation and put the indicate
username

9. Snapshot

I did not know about the snapshot tool and I find it very interesting, now I can
push the virtual machine to the limit without fear of corruption.

10. Write what you learned from this lab

In this lab I learned to create virtual machines with "virtualbox" and install 2
different operating systems "Windows and Ubuntu-Linux" configuring RAM,
storage and cores. Also the minimum requirements of these operating
systems.
