About This Release

The EcoStruxure™ Building Operation 2023 Release v5.0.3 and SpaceLogic and
EasyLogic Firmware v5.00.03 Release Notes document details changes made since the
release of EBO v5.0.1/ FW 5.00.01 and EBO v5.0.2/ FW 5.00.02. This document should
therefore be read in conjunction with the EBO v5.0.1/ FW 5.00.01 and EBO v5.0.2/ FW
5.00.02 release notes.

This version v5.0.3 of EcoStruxure™ Building Operation 2023 is a maintenance release

that includes new features and enhancements detailed in section 2. It also includes
fixes for several previously reported field defects.

This EBO software release is fully compatible with SpaceLogic and EasyLogic Controller
firmware v5.00.03.

Please note the following:

• This release supersedes the v5.0.1, and v5.0.2 releases and should be used for
all upgrades to 5.0 and new greenfield sites.
• There is a new build of the controller firmware to accompany this release
(v5.00.03).
• It is imperative that any upgrades be accomplished only after reading and
understanding this document and the v5.0.1, v5.0.2 release notes.

Supported* means it will work with BACnet IP but there is no support for configurability to
BACnet MSTP Northbound.

1.4 Backward compatibility

In cases where the compatibility matrix states “Not Supported” for a given pairing, there
remains limited support to allow that unsupported pairing to discover, host, and down-rev
from factory-installed firmware to ensure a compatible pairing is achieved.

Down-Rev from a factory installed 4.0 or 5.0 firmware IP Controller to “earlier” versions
It is important to note that any Down-Rev should be undertaken after hosting and prior to
connecting any external equipment (beyond power and Ethernet connection) and prior to
downloading any application or undertaking any other configuration of the controller.

Warning: Down-Rev is NOT supported between versions once the application is loaded onto
the controller. On controllers loaded with a database, an Erase Database or Factory Reset
command should be issued (and allowed to complete) before a downrev of the controller is
attempted. Once the downrev is completed, the database can be downloaded from the
server, assuming that the server and controller versions are compatible.

1.5 Licensing
EcoStruxure Building Operation 2023 (EBO) v5.0.3 requires either EBO 2022 licenses or EBO
2023 licenses to run.
If your system is currently based on EBO 2022 licenses, there is no need to upgrade your
existing licenses to EBO 2023 in order to operate with EBO 2023 (5.0.3).
1.5.1 Offline / Online definition when activating licenses
When activating embedded licenses EBO users need to consider if Online or Offline
activation methods should be used. From EBO release 5.0.3 the definition of Off-line/On-line
has changed.

On-line = Automation Server (AS) has an internet connection or Device Administrator (PC
running Windows) has an internet connection.

Off-line = No internet connection is available either on Automation Server (AS) or Device

Administrator (PC running Windows).

OR Internet = On-Line
Internet

AND Internet = Off-Line

2. New Features in EcoStruxure Building Operation v5.0.3

Release
2.1 Workstation Enhancements
2.1.1 Protecting IP in EBO - Securing Script Code
You can protect a Script program code to safeguard your proprietary algorithms as follows.

1. In Script Editor, right-click in the Code pane and select Protect. A password entry
dialog appears.

2. Enter and confirm a password of 4-25 characters. The password used to protect a
Script program is independent of your Workstation user account and the rules
associated with Workstation passwords do not apply.

IMPORTANT: There is no password recovery function. Verify your password before

saving and retain an unprotected copy of the script program in case of a forgotten
password.

3. Click OK to save and protect the code.

The Protect operation encrypts the Script source code and saves the Script program, even
if the code contains errors. Once protected, the Script program’s code is displayed as
encrypted text and can no longer be legibly viewed or edited in Workstation or Script
Editor until you unprotect the program.

You can protect all types of Script programs, except for programs in i2 and b3 controllers.

Protecting a Script program does not prevent the script from running, being copied,
exported for reuse, or being deleted. When you paste or import a protected program, the
pasted or imported program remains protected with the same password as used to
originally protect it. In Workstation, you can modify the bindings associated with the
protected Script program.

IMPORTANT: Script program code protection is not supported in EBO versions prior to
5.0.3. In multi-version systems, when logged onto ES or EC version 5.0.3 or later, do not
protect Script program code residing in servers running an earlier version. Doing so can
result in the loss of data if another user inadvertently saves a protected program while
logged on directly to the server running the earlier version.

Perform the following steps to unprotect a script program.

1. Right-click in the Code pane and select Unprotect. A password entry dialog
appears.

2. Enter the password used to protect the Script program.

3. Click OK to unprotect the code.

You have now unprotected your Script program. The Script Editor displays the original
source code.

NOTE: After unprotecting a Script program in Script Editor, the program will remain
protected on the EBO server until you save the program in Script Editor. If you unprotect a
program in Script Editor and close the program without saving it, you will need to re-enter
the password to view the program contents the next time you open the program in Script
Editor.

2.1.2 Workstation SDK

ITrendLog - The interface has been updated with methods that pertain to creating the
most common trend logs: CreateChangeOfValueTrendLog, CreateExtendedTrendLog,
CreateIntervalTrendLog, CreateManualTrendLog, CreateVariableTriggeredTrendLog, and
CreateLogProcessingTrendLog.
This means that there is support for setting meter log properties.

2.1.3 Graphics Editor – updated library of the NAM Standards Team

components
An updated library of the NAM Standard Team Components has been included as part of
the Workstation installation (where the Graphics Editor is included). Full details on all
changes to these components can be found on the Exchange Community.

2.2 WebStation Enhancements

2.2.1 Browse and restore an "external" Backup
The Upload function (browse and add a backup set) is now available in the default view for
Backup and Restore (/ServerName/System/Backup and Restore).

2.3 System Enhancements

2.3.1 Script - Access to trend log data from script programs
In Script Programs, you can read trend log values and time stamps into corresponding
numeric and datetime Program Arrays. After trend log data is read into arrays, you can use
script programming to perform operations and analysis on the information.

Note: This functionality is supported in Script programs only in Enterprise Server and
Enterprise Central version 5.0.3 and later. This functionality is not supported in Script
Functions or Script Event Programs, nor in devices other than Enterprise Server or
Enterprise Central.

In script programs, you use a new Trendlog binding variable type to configure access to a
trend log and a new system function called Read to read records from the trend log as
follows.

Trendlog
• Trendlog assigns the name that follows it as a binding variable, which you bind to a
trend log object.
• Syntax: Trendlog namelist
o namelist is a list of one or more user-defined script binding variable names
separated by commas.
• You bind Trendlog binding variables to the trends you wish to access in the script
program. The trend logs you bind to must be in the same server as the Script
program.

Read
• Read is a Script program system function that reads trend records from a trend log
into a script program.
• Syntax: variablename.Read (start_time, end_time, requested_number, value_array,
timestamp_array, received_number)
o variablename is a script binding variable of type Trendlog.
o start_time, end_time are datetime values that specify the range of time within
the bound trend log to read trend records. Datetime values must be in server
local time.
o requested_number is a numeric value that specifies the maximum number of
records to read from the trend log.

o Value_array is a numeric array that receives the Value from each trend record
read.
o timestamp_array is a datetime array that receives the Time stamp from each
trend record read.
o received_number is a numeric value that indicates the actual number of trend
records read.
• The sizes of value_array and timestamp_array are automatically adjusted to match
the number of trend points read from the trend log.

See WebHelp topic Script Program Access to Trend Logs for an example.
2.3.2 Script Data Files - Generic tables that can interact with script
A Script data file is an object that represents a two-dimensional table consisting of columns
and rows. Cells within the data file are defined by column and row indices. Each cell can
contain a string, numeric, or datetime value that can be written to and read by a Script
program using a set of new Script functions.

When you view a Script data file in WorkStation, you see a table that displays the contents
of the data file arranged in rows and columns with column headers that you can edit in
WorkStation

Note: This functionality is supported in Script programs only in Enterprise Server and
Enterprise Central version 5.0.3 and later. This functionality is not supported in Script
Functions or Script Event Programs, nor in devices other than Enterprise Server or
Enterprise Central.

Note: It's not possible to modify the contents of the data file in Data File tab. The contents
of the data file can only be modified by a Script program.

When creating a Script data file, you enter the number of columns and rows in the object
creation wizard.

Warning: If you later need to adjust the number of rows or columns in the data file, you
can change the data file's Number of rows or Number of columns properties. However,
doing so causes the data in the file to be cleared. So, when creating a data file, be sure to
allow extra rows and columns to anticipate the maximum needs of your application.

In script programs you use a new Datafile binding variable type to configure access to
datafiles and several new system functions to interact with datafiles as follows.

Datafile
• Datafile is a new Script program keyword that assigns the name that follows it as a
binding variable, which you bind to a datafile object.
• Syntax: Datafile namelist
o namelist is a list of one or more user-defined script binding variable names
separated by commas.
• You bind Datafile binding variables to the datafiles you wish to access in the script
program. The datafiles you bind to must be in the same server as the Script
program.

Open
• Open prepares a Script program to access a datafile. You must open a data file
before performing any other operations on the data file.
• Syntax: variablename.Open()
o variablename is a script binding variable of type Datafile.
o Open is an asynchronous operation, so Open must be on its own labeled line in
the Script program.

Write
• Write writes data to a data file.
• Syntax: variablename.Write(row_number, column_number, source_value)
o variablename is a script binding variable of type Datafile.
o row_number and column_number are numeric values that specify the row and
column of the cell to be written.
o source_value is a numeric, string, or datetime value to be written to the cell.

• Up to 1000 characters can be written to a cell of a data file.

• A data file is limited to a size of 10,000 Kbytes total.

Read
• Read reads a cell from a data file.
• Syntax: variablename.Read(row_number, column_number, return_value)
o variablename is a script binding variable of type Datafile.
o row_number and column_number are numeric values that specify the row and
column of the cell to be read.
o return_value is a numeric, string, or datetime value to receive the data from
the file.
• Read accesses the referenced data file, reads data from the cell specified by
row_number and column_number, and assigns the result to return_value. The data
type of return_value must match the type of data present in the specified cell.

Clear
• Clears the contents of a data file.
• Syntax: variablename.Clear()
o variablename is a script binding variable of type Datafile.

Save
• SAVE saves the contents of a datafile to the server's database.
• Syntax: variablename.Save()
o variablename is a script binding variable of type Datafile.
• Save is an asynchronous operation, so Save must be on its own labeled line in the
Script program.
• Save holds the program at its current line for 10 seconds to mitigate the risk of too
frequent save operations blocking access to the server database for other processes.
• Save updates the Size in Kbytes property of the datafile.

Close
• Close terminates access to the referenced datafile.
• Syntax: variablename.Close()
o variablename is a script binding variable of type Datafile.
• Close is an asynchronous operation, so Close must be on its own labeled line in the
Script program.

Rows
• Rows returns the number of rows in a datafile.
• Syntax: numericvalue = variablename.Rows()

2.3.3 External Log Storage support for AVEVA PI System

Note: This feature requires a license.

It is now possible to send historical data to AVEVA PI System. The historical data can only
be written to PI System (I.e. it cannot be read back). For more information about PI
Historian and how to set up the database, please go to AVEVA home page.

We have tested with Pi Web API 2021 SP3. We have not tested older versions, but
according to AVEVA, 2018 should work as well.

After setting up the PI System, go to Control Panel and choose PI Historian under External
Log Storage:

In the editor, configure the address and other settings:

Configure Host address, Asset server, Database name and credentials. Configure a Point
source to categorize the data for easier access and search. Compression is possible, but
only for new points. If the point already has written data in PI Historian, the data cannot be
compressed afterward. Either remove the tag and set a new one or enable compression
manually in PI System. Enumeration tables can also be written to PI System, i.e. units,
alarm states, etc.
Trend logs
By default, no trend logs are writing data to PI System. The trend log must be configured
with a tag name (PITagName=) in the Note 2 property to write data. Note 2 can still be
used for other purposes.

Supported values for PITagName:

• @(Path) – Will add the log-object path to the tag-name. Initial / is removed.
• @(Name) – Will add the log-object-name to the tag-name.
• @(MonitoredPath) - Will use the source log path if source log use @(Path). Can be
used to merge Extended trend logs with source log.

• Manual text – Supports manual text.

Examples:
PITagName=@(Path)
PITagName=EBO_@(Name)
PITagName=@(MonitoredPath)
PITagName=MyTempLog1 or Building1_Floor2_Room3_TempSensor
Events
Event can have its own tag name. A few columns are default configured, so select columns
to the right and drag and drop them to the editor to get more. Column data will be stored
with delimiter |.

General behavior
• No trend logs are written by default, only after adding PITagName to the Note2 will
the log start transferring.
• You can change the tag-name and it will start writing to the new one right away, the
old one will not be deleted in PI.
• Deleting PITagName from Note2 will stop that log from transferring, nothing will be
deleted from PI.
• Moving/Renaming a log will not change the tag-names in PI until disable/enable has
been performed for trends. Applicable when using @(Path), @(Name) and
@(MonitoredPath) as tag name.
• If you want to change the tag-name/columns for events then you need to
disable/enable for events before it applies.

2.4 Licensing Enhancements

2.4.1 Improved performance (speed) of license activation

When performing Online activation on multiple selected Automation Servers the process
has been improved. Previously the activation was made one server at a time. From EBO 5.0.3
the Device Administrator simultaneously works on activation of 20 Automation Servers. This
improves the overall activation fundamentally. A simultaneous license activation test made
on 20 various models of servers showed that the overall time to activate all 20 servers was
24 minutes. With the improvement in EBO 5.0.3, the time was reduced to 2 minutes. The
improvement was also made robust with 3 automatic retrials on Servers that fails to activate.
The retrials eliminate the effect of temporary bad connections or other not foreseen glitches
in the system.

2.4.2 Additional licensing Enhancements

In EBO 5.0.3 the Device Administrator connectivity has improved. Now the existing
operational feature can use Device Administrator (DA) to communicate with the FNO (cloud
license server). Previously the below features needed an internet connected Automation
Server to communicate with FNO. From EBO 5.0.3 the below features can be used when only
DA is internet connected.

• Online license activation when only DA has an internet connection.

• Reclaim licenses when only DA has an internet connection.
• Return licenses when only DA has an internet connection.

2.5 Dali Enhancements

The following DALI enhancements only apply to DALI Light module with Power Delivery.
2.5.1 Relay Terminal discovery
“Discover new lights” and “Discover all lights” commands have been updated to detect to
which terminal each DALI light is connected.

During the discovery process, the Power Delivery relays will be switched off and on in
order to identify the terminals.

A new command “Discover Terminals only” has been introduced to discover on which terminal
each DALI light is connected to without impacting the current DALI address and association.
This command must be executed after upgrading an installation to 5.0.3 to allow to use of the
Energy Saving feature.

The Device Discovery UI has been updated to display the terminal information and group the Lights
based on that terminal information.

Note that if the terminal has not yet been discovered (for instance, after upgrading to 5.0.3) or
can’t be discovered (light with external power supply or terminal associated to a relay), the light
terminal will be displayed as “unknown terminal”.

2.5.2 Simplified DALI Commissioning

This release introduces the support of “DALI Group channel” that can be created on a CRS DALI
Light module with Power Delivery:

A DALI Channel Group allow to control all the lights connected to a terminal as one light, there is no
association to perform (simplified commissioning), the DALI Channel Group must be associated to
one of the 4 terminals (that terminal must not be already associated to another Group Channel or
to a Relay) and a group address must be set.

Note: The Group address shares the same address space as the regular DALI light group.

To control and configure the lights on that Group channel, the same properties as a DALI Light are
available and will be applied to each light on that terminal (if these lights were powered by the
module during discovery process).

The Device Discovery UI is updated once a Channel group is created to highlight that it is associated
to that terminal.

Note that the lights connected to that terminal cannot be associated to a DALI light/group if a
Channel Group is associated to that terminal (these lights can only be controlled using the Channel
Group), but they can be winked from the Device discovery view.

2.5.3 Energy Saving

The DALI Energy Saving allows opening the Power Delivery Relay of a terminal if all lights connected
to that terminal are currently off.
2 new properties have been introduced in the module properties tab:
• Energy saving: to enable/disable the energy saving
• Reay delay (s): to define how long the DALI power distribution module should wait before
opening the relay when all lights are off

When the Terminal Relay is open (Energy saving is active), then it can take about 200ms to send a
command to a light (close relay, wait that lights power up, and send command).

[ Release Notes ] EcoStruxure™ Building Operation 2023 v5.0.3 and SpaceLogic, EasyLogic controllers v5.00.03

There are 2 prerequisites to Energy Saving:

• The light’s terminal must be discovered (done during a Discovery New/All command or using
Discover Terminals only command)
• The Power On level of the light or Group Channel must be set to 0% (to avoid change of light
level when operating the relays)
2.5.4 DALI On/Off on unused channel
This release introduces the support of “DALI Relay” that can be created on a CRS DALI Light module
with Power Delivery:

A DALI Relay allow to control for instance a 230 VAC light on a terminal on which there is no DALI
light connected. The DALI Relay object is similar to the Relay object of the Relay 10 module. It must
be associated to one of the 4 terminals (that terminal must not be already associated to another
Relay or to a Group channel).

Relay.
If any lights is connected and discovered before creating the relay or if the relay was closed during
the discovery, then these lights will be listed in the Device Discovery page but cannot be controlled.

2.6 Insight Sensor – Mask Editor Improvements

The Insight Sensor Mask editor is redesigned to be more intuitive and better represent the physical
space in which the Insight Sensor is installed. There is now a single detection area, while multiple
exclusion areas can still be defined. For more information, see the See WebHelp topic Insight-

[ Release Notes ] EcoStruxure™ Building Operation 2023 v5.0.3 and SpaceLogic, EasyLogic controllers v5.00.03

6. Important Engineering Information

Important engineering information regarding EcoStruxure Building Operation v5.0.3 is listed
below. Please refer to the EBO v5.0.1, v5.0.2 release note section 6 for details of existing
engineering information.

Important engineering information with regard to the SpaceLogic Controller (MP-C/V, IP-
IO, and RP-C) is also listed below.

6.1 Builder for Function Block

With the introduction of the “Block style changes” and “Snap shapes to grid” in 5.0.2, a
slight adjustment to the cell grid system had to be made. This means that it is possible that
a few objects in existing programs can “jump” one cell, compared from their original
position in previous version of Builder for Function Block.

6.2 Builder View

Using Builder View on the root of an EcoStruxure Building Server (Central, Enterprise,
Automation, Edge) or a SpaceLogic/EasyLogic device can cause long loading times. This is
because Builder View must analyze all objects and bindings before it can render the view.
This analysis can take a long time, especially if there are a lot of objects and bindings.

Selecting the targeted folder or area in the system tree that you wish to evaluate, instead
of the root, can avoid longer load times.

6.3 SpaceLogic Series (MP-C/V, IP-IO, and RP-C) Factory Firmware

When first powering up a new SpaceLogic IP Series Controller it is important to verify that
the controller has the latest firmware build loaded for the version of EcoStruxure Building
Operation build being used. Please see the compatibility matrix in section 1 and section
appendix B for details on applying the latest firmware.

6.4 Restoring Optional Properties

This function has now been moved to the IP Controller level so optional properties that are
not available after upgrade can be restored. In particular for this release are the Bluetooth
settings, occupant App white list for the RP-C and the Sensor expansion module, and Room
unit properties.
Please note that if the object is a custom type it will need to be checked out before running
this command.

Any new object created with this release will contain the new properties, this command is
only applicable when upgrading from an earlier release.

6.5 DALI Energy Saving

With the introduction of the “Energy Saving” on DALI CRS module with Power Delivery in EBO 5.0.3,
a specific Discovery command must be executed on every module to allow the Energy saving to be
functional after upgrading an installation EBO to 5.0.3 version.
Indeed, in order to automatically open the Power Delivery relay of a terminal, the module must
first discover on which terminal each DALI light is connected to and thus the discovery command:
“Discover terminal only” must be executed in addition to enabling the new module property:
“Energy Saving”

APPENDIX B – SpaceLogic, EasyLogic Controller Upgrade

Procedures

B1 Upgrading Controller Firmware

Warning for MP controllers and IP-IO: If upgrading from an IP controller that is currently at
v1.00.xx.xxxx the upgrade might fail the first time, if it does wait until the controller has
restarted and repeat the upgrade a second time.

Down-Rev from a factory installed 4.0 or 5.0 firmware IP Controller to “earlier” versions
It is important to note that any Down-Rev should be undertaken after hosting and prior to
connecting any external equipment ( beyond power and Ethernet connection) and prior to
downloading any application or undertaking any other configuration of the controller.

Warning for IP controllers: Down-Rev is NOT supported between versions once the
application is loaded onto the controller.

Using WorkStation, you can update the firmware of multiple BACnet/IP devices and their
attached SpaceLogic Sensor devices, RP controller expansion modules, and multi-sensors at
the same time with minimum downtime. In particular, the universal upgrade package
simplifies the update process and requires minimal user involvement and coordination. See
BACnet/IP Device Firmware Management for more information.

For more information on updating firmware, see Updating Firmware in BACnet/IP

Controllers.

B2 Upgrading CRS Module Firmware

The firmware for the CRS modules is contained within the RP-C firmware package. Online
CRS modules will be updated automatically once the RP-C firmware has been applied.
To view the upgrade status/progress, select the Room Bus folder and add properties as
below:

The upgrade is complete once the Firmware upgrade status returns to Normal, when it is
queued for upgrading the status shows ready and when downloading a percentage is
shown. Should the upgrade fail a warm start of the RP-C should be performed.

B3 Upgrading SpaceLogic Sensor Firmware

The SpaceLogic Sensor firmware is upgraded automatically as needed after the host
controller firmware is upgraded. There is new SpaceLogic Sensor firmware for this release
as shown below. It can be verified in the properties of the Room unit device or in the
Device Report.

WARNING: SpaceLogic and EasyLogic controllers update the SpaceLogic Sensor firmware in
the background after the upgrade process seems to be complete as viewed in the
Firmware Upgrade Viewer. It can take several minutes per SpaceLogic Sensor to transfer
files and restart them. During this time, SpaceLogic Sensor may appear offline and sensor
data will be unavailable.

Once the upgrade is complete, please refer to section 6.3 above regarding restoring
optional properties.

B4 Upgrading Remote-Control Firmware

The Remote Control will automatically update its firmware when paired to the Multi
Sensor and any key is pressed, after the Multi Sensor has finished upgrading.

B5 Verifying All Firmware Versions

If there is any question about what individual firmware versions are installed in a given
controller, the version information in the firmware package metadata file can be verified
against information in the controller’s device report.
